How long After you build a blog does it take for serious hits to come through?

Ive heard a lot of people tell me, just wait until the second month you shall gets hits then, or wait until the 3rd month, thats when the search eginnes pick you up.
But how long would you say for serious hits as in 100+ se hits to the blog per day? at the moment on all my blogs I am getting little trickles of traffic, they are all a month old round about. Update once every 3 days at least. custom |

 At least 6 months.
	 |

at least 6-12 months for decent SE traffic - depending on how many 'pages' you build
	 |

 6 months for 100 hits a day?
Wow not what I expected at all. Thanks, any more opinions? |

It depends on which sites link to your blog. If you have high PR pages one-way linked to the blog, you can get SE fast.

try and get some decent link backs

I was at 100 hits a day in 4 months. Just update EVERY day, 1 time a day with custom updates.
I do mine a week in advance. |

 without Jace = 6 months
	with Jace = 2 months |

4 months? you're doing something VERY wrong. by 4 months the blog should be AT LEAST 1k/day |

 # & quality of backlinks, niche & keywords targeted all come into play...i've had a blog start getting good SE traffic within 6 weeks...others have taken 3-4 months
	 |

 a week or so
	 |

For 100se hits a day? Not more than 1 month. And you even don't have to update your blog manually - just a few optimization things however. Also be sure to get some incoming PR links.
P.S. 4,6 or even 2 months to get 100se hits a day is a waste of time :2 cents: |

My Anaheim Ducks blog is in week 5 of its existence and I'm getting about 180 uniques/day now. About 120/day of those come from Google, while I'm only starting to see a few come in from Yahoo, AOL and MSN in the past week.
I do have a few sites linking to me, but none with high PR (and my site's PR has yet to be updated and is still PR0). I do already rank in the top 10-20 for many combinations of ducks/hockey keywords and player names. Since this is the off season, I'd expect that traffic to increase once the season starts. All posts are custom done by me. |

Then again, the terms are less searched and get less traffic. For example, I may rank on page 1 for a term that only brings me 5 uniques a day, while you might rank on page 5 for an adult term that brings you 10 uniques a day :) My tip is focus on getting ranked high for many less-competitive terms and the sum of them each getting you 5 hits here, 10 hits there should add up. I get no more than 10 uniques or so daily on any one keyword or term, but I rank for many different terms. There is a WP plugin that lets you easily set a title ad keywords per posting, which I think helps to this objective (I barely use any plugins but its one of them). |

It all depends on the optimization.
One of my blogs was getting 4k SE hits after a week. |

 Bump for *Biz* Topic

I get over 25,000+ unique hits a day without skim. I have been updating consistently since July 2005.

There is no subsitute for smart work.

Surely it depends on the topics and the style of writing.
	 |

Thats very impressive the senator, how long did it take for you to get 1k a day?
	 |

hey man, do me a favor and email me the rss links to all your blogs
I will throw them in all my social bookmarking sites, and they will auto update for you into all my sites |

 wow senator... nice!!!
	 |

 it would really depend...
	i would say 2-3months... :2 cents: |

One of my blogs has been up for just over 2 months now, gets around 300+ SE hits a day, took a while to get to that though.
	 |

One has been up for about a month - maybe 20-30 SE hits a day. About 200 hits a day entirely. I'm new, learning as I go and trying to do everything for myself except blog designs.

I'm glad people are getting good traffic so fast, but with Google, I've always found that it takes 6-12 months to really start pulling in good traffic. Google likes older domains and the longer yours ages, the better it will do.
	 |

I wouldn't worry about it, I'd just keep posting regularly. 6 months is a good estimate.

Some I modified the source slightly myself though. In the case of the global translator I modified it quite a lot ot fix some caching bugs and get around the query limits. |

do you guys think the related entries helps as far as SEO?? I guess if u a have more internal links on your pages thats good right?

I have found this happens a lot more with blogs rather than other sites. For example do you get 1 word and 2 word seo traffic? Quote:

Infact I seem to struggle with msn and yahoo hits anyway, can never seem to "optimize" to get them, but seeing as they are not the major search egine it does not bother me to much. but it would be nice to know how. Quote:

But.. you say trade traffic. Who is going to want to trade with me early on with my 50 hits a day? Infact IMO the only people are going to want to trade with me are those in a similar position to me with low pr and traffic. So would you really say trading is a good way to build up a starting site? I agree later on it is very useful when you have the numbers, but I am not so sure at the beginning. Give me a clue where to go to get hardlink exhances, just post the forum initials please or i'll send you an email to ask. But thanks anyway Solid advice there. Just like to say a BIG thanks to everyone who has helped. My first blog has been up a month now and is pulling around 50- se hits a day so I am pretty happy with that so far, but many of the hits are long queries which have little to do with the posts.. Yet to see many sales, but I am concentrating on traffic at the moment. Any other advice greatly appreciated thanks. |

If you put enough low traffic and low PR sites together, you can sometimes get a spark. If each one gets a single decent link in, there is traffic created and PR comes around over time. Plus you get the natural sharing and filtering that comes from trading with sites that are on topic.

100 unique ses should be in a matter of days with trades and the right optimization, ping tools, etc. ive tested both strictly organic and traded traffic with my blogs to see results and the results are pretty interesting, i did a test with a manual blog and switched it over to rss driven and man the traffic nearly doubled - 1 update a day. One my manual blogs, the traffic is low like 300 ses a day... but overall throughout the network on manuals conversion ratios are strong like 1:200 on 5 separate blogs (3 manual and 2 rss driven)
one big thing ive learned from just plain logical sense and speaking with other bloggers is that the majority of return visitors will be very low unless you capture them. on rss driven sites, i would recommend removing dates. someone said this before but you do really need to "attack" using multiple methods and not rely on simple se to take you through... the last thing is, remember a blog is supposed to be a blog not a pic post splog (unless you design it that way) with 1 sentence...so if your sponsor has rss but not a strong feed write it yourself. tease to convert |

but good solid advice, i use no rss at the moment, but can I add rss to a blog but also add some posts to it myself? that would not hurt it at all? Plus, I thought the whole idea of rss was that it was non unique content therefore would not rank high in google... So how on earth did your traffic double? |

When I build blogs it takes about one month to get 1000 SE hits a day.

interesting stuffff how are the blogs doing nowadays?
	 |

The niche of your blog is very important also.
I have a niche blog that couldn't possibly rank any higher in google for it's target keyword, but that's still only worth around 500-1K uniques per day from google. There just aren't as many people searching for this niche is all. If your blog is just general hardcore porn or nude teens or something like that then there is alot more traffic available (but also more competition for it) So like everything else, it depends. |

It is actually very refreshing to see this type of post on this board. Thanks Scotty for posting this thread:)
