Interesting I have often pondered this.

I pretty much have done it all through the years except owning a affiliate program


While i am thinking what are your thoughts and things you would start now?

I thought you did have your own program at one time. For me it would cc processing .........

I would of been buying domains, gotten involved two years earlier like 98 and not go with the biggest ad I first saw for a processor (ibill).

i did but it was one site and really brief... this waslike 3 years ago i think...

so i dabbled in it but not really as fully as i would have now.

I would've bought myself a strip club when I had the chance. I'll still go that route eventually, but I had what would've been a perfect opportunity that I passed up due to loyalty to my former employer...

Launched an affiliate program in 1998 instead of believeing all the money was to be made in selling traffic.

I would have also set up a 3rd party processor when I had the chance. I also believed at the time their was no money in dialer, 3rd party processing or running an affiliate program.

I would love to go back in time and kick myself in the balls and say "Listen shit head use the money you have in the bank and invest in the 3rd party biller and the affiliate program instead of spending it investing in a dumb design company and mainstream ventures that will be out of business in June 2000".

pretty much started over in '05 after taking some time off.

its a hell of a lot harder now days thats for sure...

I would have done more investing in it back in 97 when I first got out of college, and was making my $60k in telco. Instead of treating it like a hobby, and extra money. I would have been more aggressive.

Also would have had to stop drinking, and partying as much.

I would have been way way more audacious and not worried about the rules or hurting surfers feelings so much.

I would have made more sites faster, rather than focus all my efforts on one or two.

i got in this shit in 97, didnt know what the fuck i was doing, didnt know this would turn into a real job etc etc

BUT back then, i was 17, with NO money, no job, in highschool, and i always wanted to buy some domains, but no way of getting them, i had no checks/credit cards etc

so i didnt buy some REALLY REALLY good ones that were available back then.................i wish i wouldve forced my parents to trust me to lend me the money and the means to buy up some of them domains :(

I wish I focused on one or two instead of making a ton of sites. :2 cents:


But, if I started over today that's what I would do.

I would have taken the money that I squandered on a new car and bought some of the domains I wanted back then. I had no idea that they would be worth millions today.

I also would have quit my job to build more sites. I never imagined that I could make a living at this shit.

Yeah that's about where I am, now I'm getting back into the game, I decided to well, brush off the account I registered back in the day and put it to some use.
