Am I the ONLY one? (warning, biz thread)

Am I the only one who, over the last couple of years, has seen all sorts of stuff that I'd like to try (RSS blog feeds, tube sites, etc) - but always ends up shying away from it because of 2257 concerns?
If you're in the US, don't you worry about a knock on the door, if you're pulling in sponsor RSS feeds and tube vids that you have no docs for?

55 views and no responses...maybe I *am* the only one...

MikesTraffic 07-28-2007 04:05 PM

Ah ok, so there's only room in adult for people who obey the law (even if it sucks)?
Guess I've been wasting my time for the last 14 years......

When the 2257 stuff first started I took down ALL pictures and replaced them with text links. I didn't take those pictures myself and even though I have "paperwork" for them, I still don't need the hassle of having to put my home address down or renting out an office so someone can come and check them.

Oddly, my conversion rates increased with the text links :)

Well don't get ahead of your self, because the govt intends on making you keep records even if you just use text links.

Records for what? I still have the paperwork for the CDs I'm not using, but since each of my links goes to a sponsor, what would I have 2257 records of?

This is exactly why FuckinHorny.com was created.
A white label tube style solution for adult.
2257 compliant sponsor videos encoded to flash with your affiliate ID embedded. RSS feeds as well.

Yeah, to those in gov't who seek to attain that goal...

I say good luck. :D

Edit: I'm of course speaking ONLY for sites that contain off-link text links, not text links to in-house content.

I am in the USA, I could care less, the only site I have 2257 up for is my paysite

Hi MikeSmoke

I live in Canada MikeSmoke and its a bit more relax, however a proper record is still required... as long as the legal types can trace the content, then all is fine...

There is no real reason why adult webmasters should not have a 2257 record...

The two parts of the 2257 record is:

1.) A statement saying the "actors" are at least 18 years of age.

2.) The street address of the "custodian of records".

-----

The street address found in the respective 2257 must have the "actor(s)" personal information... the new 2257 states the new requirements of what constitutes proper ID for the "actor(s)"...

It seems to me that the adult webmasters in the US hire some really poor quality legal firms to write the 2257 and surrounding laws... It seems there is a huge market for the adult legal community...

If the FBI wants to knock on my door... then that fine... however they are buying the coffee...

Later,

.

Wow, Canada is really advanced...you don't have lawmakers who write laws, you have lawyers for the affected industries write them? Coooool. :helpme

Well, whenever I ask if I can do something legally, the question my lawyer always asks me is "How well do you want to sleep at night?" I guess I have a higher threshhold for falling asleep :winkwink:
