in any possible direction.
good thoughts, bad thoughts, funny thoughts, sad thoughts.

sniperwolf 07-28-2007 01:44 PM

Lord of the Rings. yeah, i don't know why but i was really amazed with the trilogy movie. Even if i watched it three times already, I still want to watch it over and over.

Angelo22 07-28-2007 01:56 PM

mrwilson 07-28-2007 01:57 PM

NTM 07-28-2007 01:57 PM

CarlosTheGaucho 07-28-2007 04:15 PM

A Space Odyessey 2001, although I am a huge fan of others Kubrick's movies, until I got a friend who read the A.C.Clark's original to watch that with me I was really lost, on the other hand the Clockwork Orange was something that I understood quite naturally :)

eroswebmaster 07-28-2007 04:17 PM

From Justin To Kelly

It made me think about how short life really is, how friends and family are important, and how to overcome adversity

CarlosTheGaucho 07-28-2007 04:39 PM

I read the Lord of the rings when I was about twelve years old, and once I saw that on video I did thought people who haven't read the original will have it tough..

KingK7 07-28-2007 04:41 PM

Am I the only one that thinks the "Lord of the Rings" and Matrix was boring and sucked..?

J. Falcon 07-28-2007 04:46 PM

Many movies made me think, but at the top are:

- Pink Floyd's The Wall
- Requiem For a Dream

Well, to be honest, they first ones did not suck that bad, but still I do not see what all the hype was about...

That 3rd LOTR movie was loooong winded...

J. Falcon 07-28-2007 04:46 PM

As for LOTR, read the books.

One of the greatest novel adaptations ever made on the silver screen, the original from Hubert Selby Jr. is a tough thing to read and so is the movie to watch.

Yes, I havent read the book but I did read Last Exit to Brooklyn, his other well-known novel.

Filmed by Uli Edel in 1989, I recommend "The songs of the silent snow" as well, a top collection of short novels wrote by the life itself.

Really I thought 2001 was the most boring movie I ever watched.

Libertine 07-28-2007 11:18 PM

Salo, by Pasolini.

I absolutely hated it, but it confronted me very harshly with the reality that there are many in the world who take pleasure in the suffering of others. Watching that movie basically made me lose all my faith in humanity.

Yes, cause without knowing the novel there is no way to find even a glimpse of sense in it.

Nydahl 07-29-2007 05:33 AM

The wall - movie (and the music of course) shows the things you can hardly explain in words
The color of money - its great when you do something and you like that cause it makes you money but its still nothing comparing to do something because you simply love it.

Sen 07-29-2007 05:40 AM

Cidade de Deus I thought a lot about how shit it must be for them. If u don't know the movie go to the videostore now.

just a punk 07-29-2007 05:50 AM

If don't take into account Russian (actually Soviet) movies, the list will look like this: Eyes Wide Shut, Departed, Dead Man, The People vs. Larry Flynt etc.

As about LOTR, so it's a pure entertainment movie - it's not intended to make you think IMHO

Great flick. I had it on VHS but lost it.

Dirty F 11-07-2007 04:27 PM

I love the lord of the rings movies but as someone else already mentioned: What the fuck is there to think about? Its entertainment. You watch it and let the characters in the movie do the thinking. Wtf.

Dirty F 11-07-2007 04:29 PM

My top 3 intellectual movies which made think for months:

House of Wax (with P.Hilton)
Spiderman
And
The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear

If you want a philosophical weekend with some of your closest friends i suggest renting the movies mentioned above.
