Here we go again, Servage suspended my account

Here we go again. All those who keep asking about cheap hosting in here should read this. If I'd use those guys for serious business I'd be broke already.

Dear Jenny:
I'm afraid I have bad news for you. We have been forced
to take your account offline for the day due to an extremely
high load on your account. At this time today our servers have
served more than 545570 requests for your account.

You have not used to too much transfer it is a load issue meaning
that your site has used too many CPU resources on the cluster. If
more customers on the cluster caused such high load it would make
other sites on the system run slower which would not be fair to the
webmaster of those sites.

As stated in our terms of service we are allowed to take
offline accounts which harm other customers. In your case we
have determined that it would badly affect other customers
if we kept your site online. Therefore we have temporarily
suspended your account. We will lift the suspension at
approximately 01.00 GMT.

If you have any questions please submit a support ticket via
the control panel and our support staff will be happy to
answer any questions you may have.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards,
Your Servage Team

For fuck sake its $4.5 / month, do you expect unlimited resources.

directfiesta 07-28-2007 11:56 AM

this is how they can offer 48 terabytes of space and 22 gazillionsbytes of bw ...

Dirty F 07-28-2007 11:57 AM

Uhm, your own dumb fault?

Iron Fist 07-28-2007 12:20 PM

Welcome to the servage banned club... except heres the problem.. as soon as you move to another provider, Stephan from Servage will spam your e-mail FOREVER trying to get you back.

DOn't say I didn't warn ya!

Oh and here was my letter:

After that I cancelled and moved...glad to see they still use the same form letter, which is probably script generated.

KimJI 07-28-2007 12:42 PM

move to www.webair.com they take care of your stuff.

RawAlex 07-28-2007 12:48 PM

What are you paying for hosting? Please. if you are getting 545570 requests an hour, maybe you want to get real hosting? Geez.

rowan 07-28-2007 01:16 PM

360 GB Quality Webspace
3600 GB Monthly Data Transfer
1000 MySQL Databases (v4 & v5)
Australian $8.35 per month (about $USD7.50)

:1orglaugh

rowan 07-28-2007 01:17 PM

That does it, I'm moving my SAN to servage, it's cheaper than buying a new drive!

ePorn 07-28-2007 02:44 PM

Servage is about the biggest shitfaced company out there. While i never had bandwith problems or had too much traffic, their fucked up support team doesn't even provide you with the minimum SQL access that you need to work on your DB. This extends to installing plug ins for your forum, wordpress or CMS. NOTHING works with these fuckheads, except the basic skeleton installs - from thereon out, you're fucked. My suggestion: Stay away from the scumbags and go to HostGator, Dreamhost or Webair.

SmokeyTheBear 07-28-2007 02:51 PM

any shared host will boot you for high cpu asage. it is very frustrating but completely understandable..

In servage case it would be almost impossible to run your max bw and space every month and NOT be using too much cpu.. so its kind of misleading giving you that much bw etc.. and same with the scripts. most of the "one click install "scripts on servage simply would burn too much cpu if used with a any real amount of traffic..

sortie 07-28-2007 02:55 PM

Anybody who pays $8.00(or whatever they charge) a month for hosting and expects to run a decent porn site is dreaming.

donborno 07-28-2007 03:21 PM

Servage don't even have an account on GFY.

CyberHustler 07-28-2007 03:54 PM

You get what you pay for.

I used them for 1 day and had all types of weird SQL errors immediately. Move to HostHead.com and you will be happy you did. Great prices and great service.

Thanks Einstein, I have two Pentium4 3,0 servers with 2048 MB each, and 100 mbps connection. Sometimes you need cheap hosting for some TGPs or experiments, because you don't want 500k idiots sucking half a terrabyte down in an hour.

Servage claims you get 1.200 GB/month, but if I use only 1 GB for 29 days each day, that doesn't mean they let me use 1.171 GB on the last day. After 50 GB they shut you off, that's the catch here.

With dreamhost you can see how many cpu resources you are taking up. It also says in their own wiki how many cpu cycles they prefer one account uses. I haven't tried most of these other big shared host but at least you have some idea with dreamhost if you bother to check.

freshman 08-01-2007 05:31 PM

thanks god i haven't used them

Why not just delete the content on your servers? Same end effect if servage are going to suspend you anyway...

I use it for static html only. Using them as like dedicatd server is a bad idea.
Go to Webair or Theplanet for example.

That is a pretty dumb blanket statement ....

So, you are telling me that I have 100's of idiots as clients ...

I have no kids, but I am running out buying a mini-bus, just in case .... :2 cents:

who 08-03-2007 07:49 AM

Wow it's really sad that any webmaster is actually trying to run a content based website from a virtual host. Prices for dedicated servers these days are really low. You should shop around.

tranza 08-03-2007 08:18 AM

I'd rather get a FREE sponsor host, instead of these very cheap hosts.

:2 cents:
