Looking For NEW HANDGUN To Carry...Suggestions???

Tired of carring my Beretta, way to big. What's a good gun to carry 9mm or larger? (also - auto / not revolver.) :)

Brother Bilo 07-27-2007 04:43 PM

Glock 19 or 26. Best handgun ever invented, no joke.

brand0n 07-27-2007 04:45 PM

springfeild xd compact 45

i loved my xd 9 so much, i picked up one of these.. amazing. youll love it.

CIVMatt 07-27-2007 04:46 PM

Glock 19, love it

ProjectNaked 07-27-2007 04:47 PM

Glock 19 or 26 seem kinda big. how are the mini-glocks?

I have a friend that carries a Kimber .45 - 3" barrel, but that seems like too much.

tucker 07-27-2007 04:48 PM

http://www.springfield-armory.com/xd.php

Springfield Arms XD sub compact. Its light weight, a heck of a lot smaller then your Beretta, easily worn without being seen and in .45 has stopping power.

:-)

WarChild 07-27-2007 04:49 PM

Check out Sig Sauer P229 in .40. AaronM turned me on to this gun and it's just awesome.

just carry a bb gun, then you can be sure nobody will die

Brother Bilo 07-27-2007 04:52 PM

Well, how big are you? 19 and 26 are the same width, and if you put the magazine extender on it, the grip is the same size as that 19. Kimber's are nice too, but then you are dealing with more weight and a thumb safety.

Yup except yourself when the guy with the real gun gets pissed off when you sting him with the bb and shoots you 15 times in the head...

6'1" / 200 - but needs to be concealable with shorts and a t-shirt. In the winter, I have no problems with the Beretta.

Matt 26z 07-27-2007 05:04 PM

Also depends on what type of clothing you wear. In the winter when I've got my coat on, I go as high as a 44 mag.

It's small. Little to no recoil, and can be bought in a 9mm, or 40 cal. One of the best guns I've ever shot.:thumbsup:thumbsup

When I'm around Detroit in the winter, the beretta is perfect. But it's a bitch in the summer. I usually just leave it in the truck when I go inside somewhere. I thought it was well concealed just jamed in the back of my shorts with no holster until a lady asked me if I was a cop

VicD 07-27-2007 05:11 PM

Agree. Glock 19 does not need any special attention, like oiling in winter. It's pretty good in hand, with blazers it's lightweigth. With rubber where You hold gun, it's very confortable. But keep in mind when it's ready it's really ready and can shoot really easily. Default trigger power is 2.4Kg, I don't suggest to lower it, it's quite dangerous. There's a cop I know that shoot his leg while playing tough guy:D
When shooting, it doesn't almost kick , and light kicks moves the gun to shoot slightly in upper right corner, especially when shooting in burst.
It's great choice and if I'm not mistaken, this gun has lifetime about 300-400k shots.
Sorry for my english, there are few words I really don't know so I've tried to describe what I mean :D and I'm heading to bed not to search dictionary :D

Enjoy.

Blue Player 07-27-2007 06:12 PM

Why not move to a country where you dont have to carry a gun as no-one else has them?

Might as well start catfighting like chicks.

zabijaq 07-27-2007 06:15 PM

Or You might get this :D

When You'll find where to buy this gun, please let me know. It's special specnaz noiseless flashless pistol with overlarge ammo, with integrated flash and noise reduction.
It's not as weak as it looks, it can easily shot through helmet for 50m. You'll be real toughguy with this one.

Brother Bilo 07-27-2007 06:25 PM

I live in Arizona and I was able to conceal the Glock 17, which is the full size model. I'm a little bigger, but the 19 is easily concealable. Plus, it doesn't matter what you do to it, it will shoot everytime. Just make sure you don't limp wrist it, that's it's only weakness, the user.

jimmy-3-way 07-27-2007 06:35 PM

I carry this. Nobody ever fucks with me.

In countries that don't allow guns, people get beaten or stabbed in their houses and blead to death because no one hears it happen. More people get stabbed than people get shot in America.

techtony 07-27-2007 06:38 PM

freak says smith and wesson m and p 45

ePorn 07-27-2007 08:57 PM

I tried MANY of 'em - trust me on one thing, in terms of reliability, maintenance, handling and just about everything else, there's only one: Glock - hands down, no questions asked. :thumbsup

niche25 07-27-2007 08:59 PM

HK all the way, I think these are some of the greatest guns out there.

ProjectNaked 07-27-2007 10:03 PM

Appreciate all of the responses - gonna head to Cabela's this weekend - If I buy something, I'll post it. Thanks Again! :thumbsup

juz 07-27-2007 10:05 PM

I'm going to chime in for the Glock 19 also, I love this gun

ungratefulninja 07-27-2007 10:11 PM

I own a Glock 19. If I were going to carry it, I would go with something smaller.. My dad has several Springfield XDs and I've enjoyed shooting those.

I'm not sure if I would feel more secure with my Glock knowing that there are no external safeties.. just pull the trigger and it fires.. or with the XD and its multiple safeties.

BoyAlley 07-27-2007 10:16 PM

My partner and I carry Keltec.
They've got some great options for conceal carry.

We have H&K 40calibre for at-home protection.

Canada...Americans are obsessed with the fact needing a gun in order to survive:2 cents:

When I used to pack, the sig was perfect whether wearing a suit or a leather jacket. As far as precision, it was like pointing your finger.
