What is the best router money can buy?
I will be buying a new one during the Miami show cause the ones I can find here on the island are never sufficient.
I have a lot of corners in my house and I like to sit near the pool... |
This one rocks! http://cgi.ebay.com/CISCO-7609-ROUTE...QQcmdZViewItem

okay....let me refrase that... "That I can buy..." |
If you want range your best bet is to pick up a Pre-N router and Pre-N card for your notebook. The N spec range is much larger than B & G.

I like the Linksys WRT54G, but it is G, not N.
Never had a problem with it. Also tried the Motorola WR850G with a 4 dbi antenna and never had a problem with it either (you need to flash firmware though). |
get a couple CISCO 1200 series Access Points and some 10db antenna's. Set a few up as repeaters and your golden. I've setup 20k sq ft houses with these and clients haven't had any issues.

$15 1GBit hub and cat 45. You can't go wrong, and it's quick.

The Belkin N1 has lifetime warranty, N, and a G device won't cause it to drop the wireless speed of the N devices. Most other wireless routers drop their speed to that of the lowest tech. So a A or B device causes most devices to drop the whole router to the same signal type. But it only has 100meg ports.
The upcoming Belkin N1 Vision will have Gigabit ports and a fancy LCD display. The Buffalo Wireless-N Nfiniti only has 2 year warranty but has Gigabit ports and also seperates the N and G bands. It's a little expensive though. |
Thanks for some excellent tips.
I do appreciate it. :thumbsup |
