Have you ever been to an adult show and NOT had a drink?

Internext will be my first show going 'dry'. No alcohol for me this year.

Anyone done this before? I think it should be pretty interesting, especially when things get late, to see what people are really like once their guards go down.

I'm bringing my camera and prepared for more than a few :1orglaugh

WiredGuy 07-27-2007 11:39 AM

Good thing I'm skipping this show, lol.

i havn't gone one weekend without a drink since highschool..since shows usually fall on the weekend, i'll be drinking:winkwink:

Grapesoda 07-27-2007 11:44 AM

sure, haven't had a 'drink' for almost 18 years..

Peaches 07-27-2007 11:46 AM

Most of the shows I've been to I haven't had a drink (or any other kind of drug ;) ). Trust me, it's a LOT of fun to watch everyone else get hammered and make total fools out of themselves. And you feel so much better than everyone else the next day :)

CuriousToyBoy 07-27-2007 11:58 AM

I have not been to any show yet.

MikeB 07-27-2007 12:17 PM

I don't really drink much so I've done dozens of shows without alcohol.

Regards,

Mike

munki 07-27-2007 01:03 PM

I'm having mail forwarded to the bar...

Scott McD 07-27-2007 01:04 PM

Only been to a few shows, but always had a drink...

Rochard 07-27-2007 01:05 PM

I had a problemw with the bottle before in my past, including when I was in the Marines and then shortly after when I worked as a bartender.

Everyone thinks I'm a huge drinker, but the truth is I only drink at shows or other industry related parties.

I went to Xbiz this year and I don't think I drank anything other than water.

LadyMischief 07-27-2007 01:06 PM

Yep lots of times... I'm not really a big drinker, and after having some bad experiences with jagr bombs, I don't think I'll be partaking at this one either lol...

jonesonyou 07-27-2007 01:12 PM

Yes........Nooooooooooooo

Cyndalie 07-27-2007 02:40 PM

So I wont be totally alone, cool.

I'm betting I'll get twice as much business done.

davecummings 07-27-2007 02:47 PM

Even though I've read that moderate and responsible drinking might be medically positive for me, I never drink at shows if I'm also filming anything--the reason is because getting wood at my age is more difficult if I've been drinking.

Also, IMO, drinking to get one's nerve up to approach a woman at a bar/show/hotel/etc might be a problem if too much drinking later causes wood problems if one was fortunate to get to later have sex with that same woman:-))))!

never at shows, but i quit drinking for about 6 months or so and still went out to the bar. drunk people are very entertaining.

Flynn 07-27-2007 03:11 PM

No. I don't think this is even possible.

Swish 07-27-2007 05:21 PM

Not a chance :thumbsup

HouseHead 07-27-2007 05:31 PM

No shows yet.

tony286 07-27-2007 10:28 PM

went to atlanta webmaster access was sober(I dont drink) It got annoying after a while.

BlondeBecks 07-27-2007 10:32 PM

I drink less than most around.....so it does get pretty interesting when it get late to see others that have gone way past moderation.....it's a good time watching them though.

You were in rare form.

I don't really drink that much. I may have a drink or two over the course of the day, but if I am intoxicated, it won't be from alcohol.

I will be high on life.

KiraSilver 07-28-2007 10:33 AM

Its not possible

MaDalton 07-28-2007 10:36 AM

i rarely drink inbetween the shows ;)

socrates420 07-28-2007 10:57 AM

I have not nor will I EVER attend a show,

I do not see the point of it,

nothing more then a party for the sheep to drool over content they can never touch, meet sponsors who give less about them then the shit between their nails and a highschool popularity contest that would make even the most mongaloid retard laugh till they pissed their pants.

You can do as much business over the internet, telephone, etc.

Going to a show generates money for a small few but costs a much larger group too much.

Adult webmaster 'shows' are damn near as bad as Amway shows, your told over and over again that it is ESSENTIAL to your business that you attend shows, and theres a fucking show damn near every month, if you add up the average cost per show, tickets, lodging, travel, food, 'other' your insane to go.

UNLESS your a program owner then you better show up or you'll never be taken seriously.... or so I'm told.

I don't drink, and the shows are always fun for me. Rich and I go to the parties and have a great time, and drink water the whole time - we still have a great time, but I think we get a lot more work done, simply because we're not drunk, and we're not hung over the next day. I have lots of crazy pictures from the late nights of webmaster shows... Way to go Cyndalie - you're going to have a better time this year that you've ever had before!

Zebra 07-28-2007 11:42 AM

I rarely drink outside of shows, so when I am at a show I usually drink some. Some meaning the first night I have enough that the next day I swear off alcohol for the rest of the trip. That happened to me in Vegas this month.
I think I have done 2 shows in 9 years that I went dry just to see how it was. Gets pretty boring at night when you realize you are the only sober person.

You're basing these opinions on what exactly...?

Don't get me wrong, I don't go to the shows either... I'd rather go to a beach somewhere and drink all inclusive tequila, but I don't think you can really bash the shows when you haven't been to any.

RawAlex 07-28-2007 11:55 AM

I've done it every day since around 2001. It's not really that hard, except you will discover that some of the people you thought were interesting when you were drinking turn out to be total wastes of time.

Staying dry is easy - ask for water, red bull, cola beverages that pretty much every place will have as a mixer at least. Buying and carrying bottled water all the time pretty much can let you off the hook anyway.

If nothing else, you will enjoy the show more because you will remember more of it.

Oh I forgot since I have decided NOT to attent shows then I must not speak about them, is that like how I know fire will burn my hand but I've never stuck my hand into the fireplace?

Or that 6 month old spoiled milk is nasty even though I have never had the urge to guzzle down a glass while shoving a broomstick up my ass?

At any rate, I know what I know about shows from a number of things. The photos full of drunk folks, the posts, and most importantly all the feedback I have gotten over the years from people I know and 'trust' in the biz who DO go to shows.

regardless of what you feel in your heart one does not have to ATTEND a show to know what exactly goes down at them, more play then work really.

oh shit I forgot about the workshops and seminars.... well hell that could be done online in a chat setting right? still not worth all the money and stress of dealing with thousands of drunks eyeballing content models and snagging free shit and trying to look bigger then they really are..... am I missing anything?

~Socrates~

CarlosTheGaucho 07-28-2007 04:08 PM

Nothing wrong with that, but haven't had a chance to showcase me sober at the shows yet.

M0nk 07-28-2007 06:26 PM

I wold not even go to a birthay party without my beer......

AK 07-28-2007 06:29 PM

Jim_Gunn 07-28-2007 07:05 PM

I haven't had a drop of alcohol in over two years, so I don't miss it at industry shows. I enjoy the socializing and events and seeing friends.
