Munki and I are arguing about flight regulations...

Munki and I are bickering about what we can and cannot bring on flights (WhooHoo! Internext next week). I've only flown pre-9/11, so I'm not really up to date with the new and weird guidelines.

Anyone got any tips for a smooth flight?

For carry on, anything liquid needs to be under 3 OZ and in a 1 quart bag, one bag per passenger. This includes lip gloss, mascara, deodorant, etc.

No drinks through security.

Lighters are OK after the 1st of Aug I think.

Personally, if I'm taking carry on, I travel VERY light - take a quart bag with my deodo, toothpaste, lipgloss and mascara and plan on getting shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc at the hotel.

Thank you! I hadn't even considered lighters and I've always got one on me.

good rule of thumb is NO LIQUIDS and NO FIRE

stick with that and you are fine

apparently an 8ball of coke is all right because they didn't confiscate it last trip I went on

What's there to argue about? What exactly is the topic of discussion? Pretty vague.

It was never a big deal to me, I only carry on my backpack with laptop.

Munki does not want me to bring my hairspray cause he doesn't want to check the luggage. He tends to attract attention from security types, and just wants everything to be a smooth in and out.

lol...

Think I should avoid wearing the "Visual Terrorist" t shirt this time around?

Maybe that will calm the TSA folks down a bit...

You do in some airports. In several they even have the bags they'll give to you if you don't have your own :thumbsup Plus who wants all their stuff banging around the bin? I just put everything into the bag and leave it there - only replacing what I run out of or if the bag finally breaks.

MG - I've almost always bring hairspray through in my little baggie. Go to CVS or Walmart and get some sample hairsprays :)
