That's a broad question that is time sensitive. Peons(peonage) currently exist worldwide, probably most prolific in the United States. Watch any porn flic using obviously stoned models, the 'producers' take clear and calculated advantage of the model's drug dependency to enslave them.

I'm not by any means comparing early slavery to what exists today. Just pointing out that slavery has existed in one form or another since before recorded history. And still continues.

In hindsight to my post, I guess most members of today's society are enslaved to money. The example I gave was quite base and is just an example most here can relate to. Today's slavery has 100's of ways of venting itself.

The definition of slavery would depend on the epoch.

That would have to be close for recorded history. Assuming you consider the Bible as recorded history. Not everyone does, I personally do SykkBoy2.
