Fact: Cosby Show was racist ########

http://www.units.muohio.edu/psybersi...time/cosby.jpg

I loved the show growing up but I watch it now on TV Land and I see the sitcom in a different light.
The way white people on the show were usually the butt of the jokes or the dumb characters that the Cosbys learned a lesson off of.... I could go on about "It's a Different World" but I won't.

Pleasurepays 07-23-2007 11:56 PM

black people often thought it was racist for unrealistically portraying blacks as successful professionals

ronaldo 07-23-2007 11:59 PM

The only white person I recall seeing on that show was a cameo by Gilbert Gottfried. There were probably a few more, but anytime a "White" show doesn't represent the minority populous, someone's sure to complain.

Remember when Adam Sandler was on the Cosby show?

He played the Dad.

OG LennyT 07-24-2007 12:08 AM

On IMDB, I see he played the character Smitty for four episodes.

Pornwolf 07-24-2007 12:14 AM

The Huxtables's were BLACK???!

bobby666 07-24-2007 02:41 AM

black people can never be racists :-)

Sarah_Jayne 07-24-2007 03:35 AM

I don't remember it that way at all.. I remember it going out of the way to be multi cultural. The only white character I remember being the butt of jokes was the chubby kid from across the street but I don't think that had anything to do with his race.

tranza 07-24-2007 06:09 AM

Who cares really??

Klen 07-24-2007 10:28 AM

I just watch it on tv :)

ditto... I remember the chubby kid and his chubby dad. I don't remember anything I would call racist.

Wasnt the movie called 'Roots' ?

Blue Player 07-24-2007 12:27 PM

If a show is all black it is ethnic. If a show is all white it is racist.

OG LennyT 07-24-2007 03:38 PM

It's kind of like the white shows that have been on TV and they'll throw in some token blacks to act the fools so the white characters can learn a moral lesson.

Cosby did the same thing as the white guests thrown in here and there always play the idiots or 'middle class' characters.

It's on TV Land, check it out. I used to love the show too. :(

Brother Bilo 07-24-2007 03:40 PM

Who cares? That show is fucking lame. Errybody knows black folk don't talk like that. Sheit!

i didnt think it was racialist at all...a good show with nice concepts.

minniesoporno 07-24-2007 06:05 PM

I grew up watching it from the day it aired til it ended. I am 22 now. so that was my window of my family lived like on tv. it was not racist at all.

it might have done a spin on other shows, but wasn't racist.

IllTestYourGirls 07-24-2007 06:08 PM

I was thinking about how on the show Bill acted like a crack head. always mumbling and itching at his skin. He was addicted to potato chips and that was used as a symbol for crack.

He would hide the potato chips, sneak them, eat them when no one was around and so on. But the wife would always find the stash. BUT she would take a few hits errm bites from the bag.

GatorB 07-24-2007 06:29 PM

More realistic show about black familes

A) Cosby Show

B) Good Times

I'll say B
