Will the Internet make a difference this election?

With all of the political candidates building websites (as they have ben over the last couple years) and now using sites like youtube to air political videos, will the Internet make a different in the upcoming election?

Keep in mind, a lot of voters are older and not as computer and internet savvy.

The younger people who tend to flock to the internet more tend to be less likely to vote.

So, will it make a noticeable difference? Are enough actual *voters* finally using these tools to find out more about candidates before pulling the lever on election day?

Probably to a degree and may show a minor change in the voting patterns of younger people who are more likely to be computer literate.

The YouTube type presentations will be milked by CNN and broadcast and no need to be computer savvy for that.

The net is also a media for abuse and misinformation and is already being used for that purpose by lobby groups and others - and not just for political gain.

Overall, doubt there would be a significant change because of the net - US election programming is already overcooked on mainstream media to the point of boredom and out of balance with actual news reporting.
