Why is it labled BAD to be a bro?

from my understanding - this new BRO term all the trolls keep referring to referrs to those of us who have been in the game a long time, have a good solid business- have great connections with high end players, travel a lot to hang out with the 'bros' and all the bros stand up for each other.

ok, but this is being made out to be a bad thing?

????????????????????

Digipimp 07-23-2007 02:09 AM

i dont know what thats all about BRO

ServerGenius 07-23-2007 02:24 AM

This whole Bro shit is similar to the bp4l nonsense....just a few insecure losers
who feel elite together when presenting themselves as a group.

NTM 07-23-2007 02:32 AM

because BROs are fake. a facade.

they use this "BRO" status to appear important. to draw attention to themselves. this is their only way to generate revenue, because they dont have any real skills.

people who really make money and who are the true playas dont flaunt their stuff around. they dont need to draw attention to themselves, clowning around on web boards - their reputation precedes them.

BROs suck each others nuts on GFY, but talk shit behind backs and steal each other wallets on Internet Conventions.

you forget - one can't BE a bro unless one IS a bro - so how's that fake?

other than you just being jealous

No you can't be a Bro unless you don't mind sucking the dicks of the other
bro's. If you are important you don't need to be a Bro....To be a bro you
have to just THINK you're important :2 cents:

umm, no - to be a bro as I stated above you need to already have a successful business, have great connections, travel the world, etc.

read the thread.

you sound really really jealous of bros

this is how it translates for current GFY bros:

1. have a successful business - be a board sigwore with at least 30k posts

2. have great connections - suck other bros dick and agree to everything they say even if they are 200% wrong

3. travel the world - doest apply. current "bros" dont even have passports.

so what else makes you a BRO? attending uber lame "tgp parties"?

Humpy Leftnut 07-23-2007 02:47 AM

You sound very passionate about this. Why?

CuriousToyBoy 07-23-2007 02:49 AM

I guess you're directing that at the Bro's right? :winkwink:

georgeyw 07-23-2007 03:21 AM

I think the negativity towards *bros* spawns from the fact that when a bro does anything untoward whether it be business wise or in their personal lives, the bros back them without bothering to understand what has occurred.

It's a bit like being 12 years old all over again.

GatorB 07-23-2007 03:27 AM

I think being a "Bro" is for white guys what being on the "down-low" is for black dudes.

xclusive 07-23-2007 03:30 AM

It's bad to be a "Bro" because a bro isn't a man and can't stand on their own 2 feet. I have no problem with sticking up for a friend but a real man can tell a friend when they are wrong. Not just keep with the standard line when you are afraid you will hurt somebodies feeling. I have no problem admitting i'm wrong and can stand on my own 2 feet. Don't need others propping me up for egos sake. Most "Bros" can't.

I've heard the word used by the trolls to describe business people here. Haven't heard the business people here refer to themselves that way.

just more enjy from the disgruntled part timers I think

justsexxx 07-23-2007 06:07 AM

Well why see it an an attack? Many of the bro's were succesfull, and some are still. However new blood has arrived, and many of the bro's don't like that. They are still doing their same old trick. Some of the bro's also improved their skills, and they are still or even more succesfull.

However I see some 'old' TGP bro's loosing their skills, because they don't want to update their scripts, still rely on traffic trades, and slowly they are losing their nr1 bro image. Which they keep up by saying they still know a lot of bro's, and give a party so now and then

Dagwolf 07-23-2007 06:16 AM

there is a lot of truth to what you are saying, It's keep up with the times, innovate to be ahead of it, or die:2 cents:

I agree I look up to people who keep on developing new site ideas or who stay ahead of anyone else. Like the site network from Bike or other big players like 89.com who keeps on growing unless many of the old 'used to be' big sites.

lol.. what are you talking about? I think the term bro is a bit larger than that and dont only refer to those who have a solid business... It does refer to those who use the term "solid" often tho.. lol

Juicy D. Links 07-23-2007 07:40 AM

I am the head Bro

Gerco 07-23-2007 08:16 AM

Ya, this "bro" thing is pretty fucked up around here.

Take my old thread for example, http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showth...ghlight=thieft
Where I flat out busted Unrealbank "Object Freaks" stealing my content and even using it in their affiliate program. Course the "Bro's" where right in there defending them yada yada EVEN with solid proof against them. Some even had the audacity to start trying to turn the tread around trying to make it look like I was the ass for trying to protect my own property... Nice.

The out come? They finally removed the content (After having used it all over the net in their own promotion for more than 1/2 a year) and I never heard another thing from them.

Bro's are WAY to quick to jump into a mess and back the other "bro" even if that other bro's totally wrong.. then will take it further and try to fuck the person in the right... usually with no damage to themselves... To all those "bro" Go Fuck Yourself.

Its a parasitic relationship. A big problem in this business because a few guys who were lucky enough to get in early get big chips on their shoulders and feel they can do no wrong get a few other leeches who will just parrot what they say to stay in hopes of getting a little something more out of them (see: yes men). These "bros" don't have any real friends. If they went broke tomorrow, they would just be another troll.

sniperwolf 07-23-2007 09:28 AM

i have no idea! lol

In the offline world people would call them cronies. People talk about cronies regarding politicians all the time. Think Haliburton (sp) and Rumsfeld.

Setting up deals, making deals, doing business to benefit buddies as opposed to the greater good. Defending buddies regardless of whether they're right or wrong. I'm all about defending friends when they're right, but when they're wrong, a "real" friend will tell them so.

Otherwise you're just another "bro".

stev0 07-23-2007 11:31 AM

I always figured people used to term to make fun of all the reps that hit us up on ICQ "hey bro!" trying to peddle their programs and content.

When someone calls you a bro, you feel liked. A warm fuzzy feeling that makes you feel like you're special, though in reality it's just some guy on the internet trying to use you for his own financial reasons.

I think it's labeled bad to be a "bro" because lots of people fall for the facade, kind of like calling someone a "tool".

stev0 07-23-2007 11:33 AM

Of course the terminology on GFY is completely different than in the real world... in the real world a bro is a really good friend or a brother, on GFY it's some guy that sends you surfers and buys you beers a couple times a year at conventions.

Brother Bilo 07-23-2007 11:35 AM

What's wrong with buddies sticking up for eachother? None of you guys have friends that you stick up for?

I have only ever been called "bro" by strangers. I know of no "really good friends" that call each other "bro". Is it commonly used in Canada?
