Another Waco? - Couple In Stand Off With Police Over Tax Evasion

Ed and Elaine Brown are sentenced to 5 years for tax evasion for refusing to pay taxes on income earned from Elaine's dentistry practice. This is a fight they say they are ready to die for. The couple have been holed up for 6 months in their home.

The Browns stopped paying income taxes in 1996 and say the Constitution and Supreme Court support what they call a battle for freedom on the basis that ordinary labor cannot be taxed. Their electric, internet, TV and mail service have been cut off.

The couple live in 110 acre compound equipped with a watchtower, satellite dish and solar panels. "We are self-sustained...," said Ed. "I'll die fighting, rather than live in slavery," said Elaine who says they skirted being killed by FBI on June 7th.
