so this designer off gfy says to me he will be finsihed on monday

They put money into escrow and everyone waits until the job is done before any money is transfered, thus satisfaction is guaranteed for both parties.

He's kept you up to date. He's only a few days late. It's fair to ask for a partial refund (you might not get it) but it's not fair to ruin someone or start drama for something to silly.

I'd say be thankful you were kept apprised of the situation. Sometimes things take longer. Does it make it right? No, but at least you are in contact with him. If he puts it off again tell him thanks, but no thanks and ask for a refund.
