Did you get your passport yet?

The US has a back log of more than 500k passport applications. And 2008, the deadline for border passport use is approaching fast.

How many of you have your passport app sitting in that pile?

It's the same in canada, I filed for my passport over 2 months ago & I still haven't got it!

For flights to the US we are allowed to just show that we have filed for our passport and that allows us in.. I dunno if thats the same for you guys entering canada.

I filed for my passport at the beginning of June and I received it by the end of June. I might have received it really quickly because I'll be leaving for Mexico at the end of this month.

I need to get one. I don't have one. I hope it doesn't take forever!

pornguy 07-20-2007 10:02 AM

Not sure either, but come 2008, there is will a lot of upset travelers.

pornguy 07-20-2007 10:05 AM

What sucks about the childrens passports, is that they are only good for 5 years.

Rochard 07-20-2007 10:06 AM

My passport should be here next week or so..... applied for it like three or four months ago.

Methodcash Rick 07-20-2007 10:07 AM

I've had a passport for about 13 years.

Dagwolf 07-20-2007 10:07 AM

That's a big backlog. Is the government prairie dogging?

I got my new Canadian passport because my old one was expiring down here in Costa Rica. When I applied they said it would take at least 3 weeks (knowing things here I figured 2 months+) but to my surprise it was ready in just one week!!

baddog 07-20-2007 10:35 AM

Mine finally got here. Paid the additional for an expedited, but they put the wrong address on the envelope so it took a week longer than it should have.

media 07-20-2007 10:35 AM

Got mine in 2005, and i can only imagine what a pain in the ass it is now, considering it was a pain in the ass for me then..

Nikki_Licks 07-20-2007 10:37 AM

Damn, I better get moving on mine :disgust

selena 07-20-2007 11:55 AM

The three of us applied at the beginning of June. I can see us in the system online, but don't expect to have it for a good while.
