Of course not! What's the point?

If you would consider one you really don't understand the fun of riding a bike.

beemk 07-20-2007 12:09 AM

being morbidly obese, i dont think you need any less exercise than you're currently getting.

I'll bet you a thousand dollars I can smoke you over any distance on my un-motored bike if you show up with one of those Bionic things.

make it $10,000 and I'll take the bet. I choose the course and the bikes we both ride. same bike - one with assist and one without. 10 miles - many starts and stops.

VERY serious about that .

SleazyDream 07-20-2007 12:16 AM

remember tiny tim, i lost over 100 lbs and STILL have the leg muscle from that.

my legs are HUGE and I bike a lot - everyday - 10-20 miles a day here. have a $3000 mountain bike.

i would sooooo seriously love to take that bet with you. no fucking way would you show up though. like most trolls you're talking out of your ass. :2 cents:

Naw, that's not a very fair bet. The bikes they put those on are pieces of shit.

I'd most def put up $10k if I ride my own bike and you ride your motorized thing. The point isn't that a motor can make a shitty bike faster, the point is that a good bike is fast enough on its own.

a) I'm not a troll.
b) Biking is more about lungs, not legs.

depends on what you bike it - a honda, fuck yeah you'll win. Gas moter beats electric.

I'm looking at putting it on my Jamis or gaint full suspension mountain bikes though.... both in the $3K price range. not shitty bikes. :2 cents:

That thing weighs 7 lbs. Why would you put a giant boat anchor on a bicycle? You want speed buy a Ninja.

Endurance yes, muscle not so much. Lance Armstrong didn't start winning races until he LOST all his muscle mass after cancer.

Look at all the skinny motherfuckers who are racing the Tour de France.

Ehm, note the differences, too. Green = a sprinter. Sprinters have quite a bit of muscle. The polkadotted sweater is for going up mountains, though, and note how his legs are skinny as fuck.

This guy is currently holding the yellow sweater in the Tour:

riding a bike on your own steam really isn't THAT hard. I recently started riding and went from not at all to riding 5 miles a day in about a week.... just ride it yourself, damn!

i do over 20 miles a day biking actualy - 5 times a week or so - it's not abotu hard - it's about going super fucking FAST.

i'm a speed demon

chodadog 07-23-2007 04:06 AM

Sleazy: If you think climbing hills is about speed, then you have no idea what riding is all about. Look at the average speed on the climb the first day the tour hit the alps this year. 15km/hour (about 9.5mph). Muscles are for sprinting. Stamina is for climbing.

Take it from a life-long big gear pusher trying to mend his ways. The day you start becoming more concerned with maintaining a cadence between 90 and 100 is the day you become a better rider and begin shedding pounds a lot faster.

aico 07-23-2007 04:09 AM

is that for fat lazy fucks or what?

chodadog 07-23-2007 04:09 AM

Perfect example of why speed is overrated. Look at Fabien Cancellara. Absolutely destroyed everyone in the TDF prologue in London. Nearest guy was about 13 seconds off the pace over 7.9km. Average speed on that stage was something like 52.5km/hour. Maintained his yellow jersey for I think the first 7 or 8 days of the tour. But now where is he?
