is 7k a lot of paysite members

if a single site has 7k members is that a lot of members compared to what most sites have?

madawgz 07-19-2007 05:48 PM

7000 people paying 40$/month is quite a bit of money

Elli 07-19-2007 05:52 PM

How long has the site been up? Is it making more than it costs to run?

Shap 07-19-2007 06:12 PM

Alot of GFY will tell you 7000 members is peanuts. Don't listen to them. Anybody who has 7000 members is doing well. 7000 * $30 = $210,000 a month. That is really good.

When it comes to members i feel there are a few milestones that are tough as hell to reach.
First 1000 members are a bitch.
Then 2000 is tougher than you'd think. Not tougher than 1000 but still challenging.
Then it's 5000.

After 5000 I've felt every 5000 after that is still challenging.

The Ghost 07-19-2007 06:21 PM

Active members at full price? Yes it is.

Is this about a specific site or just hypothetical?

grape 07-19-2007 06:23 PM

A specific site ghost

Robbie 07-19-2007 06:25 PM

We have a little over 2000 members and just opened at the end of April. I'm REAL happy about that. I don't have any trials, just full recurring.

jonesonyou 07-20-2007 07:16 AM

If you own the site and have half that number of members, you can live very, very nicely off that.

tony286 09-23-2007 10:39 PM

especially if there are no affiliates, thats a bunch of profit.

ProjectNaked 09-23-2007 11:15 PM

we have 93,232 active members :thumbsup

spooky181 09-23-2007 11:22 PM

A single site with 7000 active members. I would like to see that...Our extreme amateur site has an alexa ranking around 5000, been online for 5 years, converts and retains like a mofo and we have nowhere near 7000 active members...:upsidedow

5 years is a very long time. Pretty good Alexa ranking as well.

woj 09-24-2007 12:23 AM

7k members is pretty good $$... but it could be $14.95/month memberships, with 60% going to affiliates... - hosting/models/etc expenses... still pretty good money, but not spectacular...

PornMogul 09-24-2007 12:34 AM

7k active with full memberships is pretty fucking good

CreatineGuy 09-24-2007 12:35 AM

which site?

meninpain.com?

venus 09-24-2007 12:45 AM

7000 members for a normal paysite is really good... 7000 members to a site that has free or 1$ trials would suck (because thats allot of people sucking down bandwidth for nothing).

But alexa rankings and the number of members dont mean allot... the only thing that matters, is what you take home - your money. If you have 7000 members, but only get to keep (say) $5000 a month and someone else has 3000 but gets to keep (say) $30,000 a month.... the only numbers that mean anything are what you take home.

DWB 09-24-2007 12:45 AM

That is a kick ass number. Congrats.

peterk 09-24-2007 12:45 AM

7k members is a preety good number! Congratz

Keep up the good work

Even better than Shaps advice, sorry Shap I still love you though.

7000 members @ $2 a month brings in $14,000 a month. Upsells and cross sells with a bit of advertising will cover ALL your costs and might make a bit of a profit. $14,000 a month income.

7000 member @ $30 from affiliates might make you even less. Might make you more but not a lot more.

Traffic is the easiest thing in the world to get, easier than content :winkwink:

Making a profit is a bitch.

My figures are an example to illustrate the point.

Vick! 09-24-2007 01:57 AM

Post stats or this didn't happen.

This could be borderline the most idiotic, nonsensical pile of dog shit I have ever read on GFY. You sir, are a complete idiot.

Paul Markham 09-24-2007 06:54 AM

I said my figures were to illustrate the point, but the morons had to jump in. If I read right a lot of people are scared at losing traffic to sites giving it away, so maybe $2 is an option. I said maybe.

And it's a better option than dreaming about closing down Tube sites.

Who charges $2, PPV do.

Take off the blinkers and think a bit harder.

$2 a month with a limit of 10 videos to view. Make is so the $2 charge can be topped up anytime for another 10 videos. So maybe the eventual spend is $4 on average. Maybe it's $40, depends on how good your site is.

Maybe $30 is the figure chiseled into the rocks floating around some of your heads. It's not floating around the buyers head. And please don't tell me "Traffic" go find the affiliate program on the Tube sites.

BOSS1 09-24-2007 07:23 AM

How much do we really make of each member?
