How many threads per page is right?

There are over 200 active threads today. Do you click to page 2 and 3 and so on?

GFY has 50 per page. Should it be more?

chodadog 09-03-2002 11:49 PM

I think 50 is fine. It's not all that hard to click on the next page link, and it keeps things nice and fast. Although.. i do sometimes lose track of threads that go to the second page.. hmm...

Alvaro 09-03-2002 11:49 PM

50 is just fine, more will overload

MetaformX 09-03-2002 11:50 PM

Does a parole's opinion count? if so, yes, there should be 100 -150 per page in my opinion. I seldom ever go to page 2 or 3.

WiredGuy 09-03-2002 11:50 PM

50 is already a lot. In netscape it takes a while to render the 50 so adding more will slow it down even more. Besides that, people on dialup will be more frustrated with > 50 threads/pg.

Leave the settings as it is, it works great as is.

if it aint brooke dont fix, working great now and important posts will anyways be ontop

by the way thanks

the Shemp 09-03-2002 11:54 PM

Its rare that i go to page 2 or 3.

DjSap 09-03-2002 11:56 PM

there should be a hack for vbulletin that lets the users chose how many threads they want to view...install it and keep the default at 50...

Babaganoosh 09-04-2002 12:05 AM

I think it should be 100 or so. I rarely ever make it to page 2 unless I am bored as hell.

Amputate Your Head 09-04-2002 12:39 AM

50 is perfect.... if you change it, leave the option to set it individually to 50..... I do check out page 2 & 3 if I'm out for a long time, but generally if something slips to page 2 or 3, then it's pretty much lost it's interest already. I don't think increasing the threads per page would make much difference.... going down below 50 threads is still digging for something cuz you're bored or catching up, whether it's on a different page or not.... :2 cents:

Carrie 09-04-2002 12:45 AM

There's a page 2? :winkwink:

Just let the webmasters who have nothing better to do (work) set their own preferences and all will be right with the world.

*insert shiny happy "ahhhhh" music here*

Theo 09-04-2002 12:46 AM

i have problem with 50

49 is cool for me

Eugene_K 09-04-2002 01:04 AM

50 is good.
100 would be better to view, but sometimes even 50 threads timeout when I load GFY via dialup.
so, 50 is good.

ztik 09-04-2002 01:05 AM

I would make it 100, I never hit page 2.

Netscape users don't count.

i like more like 100 or 150 like others said

or make it adjustable on our end like it was before

i think........right??

X37375787 09-04-2002 01:35 AM

GFY is so hard to keep up with anyway ... each day there's 3 or 4 pages of new threads appearing ... the most interesting threads are always bumped to the top anyway, why not leave the def. thread view at 50 ? 100 would load slowly.

Hustlin Entertainment 09-04-2002 01:36 AM

quiet 09-04-2002 02:20 AM

i'd like 40 per page....

AWW - Kevin 09-04-2002 03:05 AM

never read 2nd & 3rd page

but

True. I rarely visit page 2 unless it is to see if anyone responded to my post from yesterday.

My 2 cents is that there should be a traffic trading AND gallery submitting forum (both seperate of each other). Although I realize this does not help the overload of posts in the general forum.

RMG 09-04-2002 07:09 AM

Seeing how I am on dialup, 50 is just fine the way it is. Anything more and it will load much slower.

Helix 09-04-2002 07:17 AM

lensman,
it's perfect the way you have it.

Agreed

cold_ice 09-04-2002 09:17 AM

the way it is works well I think, might of made a great poll.

jimmyf 09-04-2002 09:32 AM

I like 10...:Graucho

Juge 09-04-2002 11:24 AM

I don't think people tend to click on the 2nd or 3rd pages. But 50 is probably fine, because it shows enough at one time, and it would slow it down if it were larger.

Loch 09-04-2002 11:27 AM

Well i personaly would like a bit more 70-100 :thumbsup

salsbury 09-04-2002 11:31 AM

i like page 3 personally. ;)

kmanrox 09-04-2002 11:36 AM

i rarely click past page 1

i'd suggest 100-150

Lensman 09-04-2002 01:51 PM

I increased it to 60 per page, it increases the page by 15K.

Maybe 75 per page is better?

Yeah, what he said.

ADIDAS 09-04-2002 02:01 PM

I agree with the consensus. 50 is fine. But would be nice to be able to choose for myself whether 50, 100, or even 150 per page...

My :2 cents: anyways.
