Catch All emails, a thing of the past?

Woke up this morning to the realization that another of my emails had been spoofed, and I had about 10,000 bounced emails clogging up things. I remember when having a catch-all setup was a convenience, but these days, it is more of a PITA than anything.

People need to start buying better email lists.

catch-alls are def. going the way of the dinosaur. WAY too much spam.

ztik 07-16-2007 09:06 PM

Ive been using catch all since like 99

Ive had a few problems like that but usually stops pretty fast

I got some pretty heavy spam filters though

Yeah I cut that 'catch all' shit out years ago. I get enough to VALID e-mail addresses. I don't need anymore to [email protected], [email protected], etc. etc.

:disgust

I still use it and then I use Spamarrest its the best thing ever invented for email

Chris 07-16-2007 09:19 PM

i have all my catch all email go to a separate folder in outlook and go thru it about once a week

make a rules list for friends and business...and forget about spam

Holly 07-16-2007 09:24 PM

And you might as well go ahead and block out webmaster@, contact@, info@, help@, and support@ for any domain. Those are pretty much unusable from the moment the domain is registered.

Snake Doctor 07-16-2007 09:37 PM

I know of one host that won't even set up a catch-all email account for a domain because of the problems they create.

Before spam became so ridiculous it was good to get all of your emails, (support, webmaster, sales, etc etc) all in one inbox, but not anymore :(

Phoenix 07-16-2007 09:39 PM

setup rules...is it so hard...stop bitching and make some rules folders

abshard 07-16-2007 09:59 PM

i used to get 10-15k emails per day before i removed the catch all's about 2 year ago

Hate to break it to you, but some of us get people we have never heard of that send us mail daily. I am not going to turn away business just because of possible spam.

I filter those and others to separate boxes and then assign spam tags accordingly after arrival. It works for me while still having a 'catch all' for my primary biz domains. I use 'filters on my filters' also for emails with attachments and graphics.

It's amazing how many wannabe webmaster morons still use 1x1 images for tracking. Or #FFF background images as backgrounds in HTML emails. duh!

crockett 07-16-2007 10:22 PM

I get maybe 1 legit e-mail for every 150 spam. It's fucking ridiculous.

woj 07-16-2007 10:27 PM

HAPPYPEEKERS 07-16-2007 10:43 PM
