Have you ever been to Death Valley? (Lots of pics)

As a 5th generation Californian, I love this State and just about everything about it. Whenever I have the opportunity to show off some of our great landscapes to someone unfamiliar with CA, I jump on it. Such was the case last Friday when goodgirl drove back to LA with me. I took her to one of the coolest spots in CA, Death Valley.

The landscape there is surreal, and has been frequently used as the backdrop for outer space flicks.

Sometimes places like that don't really come out well on film when compared to actually being there, but, it is better than nothing.

You can find the pics up at FUBARwebmasters. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy going there.

Interesting .... since ive moved here I noticed that more often than not people are not native californians.... this state is getting too crowded.

We are few and far between to be sure. That is why I raised my kids to be proud of the fact that they are 6th generation. I am pretty sure they will stick around, so our family tree will be well rooted here.

You betcha. I went to the Phantom Fireworks shop. I had bought several hundred dollars worth when I was in Indiana a couple weeks ago and they had given me a t-shirt (along with some other stuff). I decided to wear it when we went shopping and it worked like a charm as they threw in some free cakes.

As the official fireworks sponsor of WYPD this year, I can promise an even better show than last years.

It is even better when you are there . . . it is one of those places where I wish I had a hi-def camera attached to my head that just recorded everything I see.

You can really see the effects of millions of years of wind, rain and baking sun.

If you use your imagination and think what it must have been like for the first settlers coming across as part of a wagon train, and realizing how each mountain was another destination for them that would take days or weeks, at 115 or above, you really have to admire them.

Of course, at 90 MPH with the A/C on it is a little different, but I still recommend you bring water. :1orglaugh

was in the area once. Was driving across the states years ago and we were stopped at a rest area. I woke up in the passenger seat sunrise and it was unreal. I felt like I was no longer on earth.

You are an idiot, and as such I would not expect you to understand or care. To be honest, I am not sure why you would even click on one of my threads, but you seem to visit each of them.

DOH!... Good thing you threw in the "some" word.

:)

Next time I head to the wine valley in Ensenada, I will grab some photos that are truly amazing. And they as well have been used as the backgrouds in some sci fi movies.
