freehost networks, banners, conversions

I am thinking about purchasing a freehost network, or starting one. Do sites like these really make good money?

I am worried about bandwidth charges running a freehost site, so I was curious if any1 knows if running banners on a network like this would convert well and more then pay the bills (for the network), but also put some good $ in my pocket too.

Opinions?

Thanks.

Yah it's a great idea!

Then after a few months you can do some "upgrades" and just steal everyone's traffic like at mottz.com or theadultwire.com.

You can also charge my CC via paypal for non existant services
like those assmasters coolness.com.

um, no.

The only way apparently to make $$$ as I see it, is to throw some banners in the headers. Im not crooked like that to go steal traffic.

Im sorry you and whoever got burned by some fucked up hosts but thats not my fault. Im trying to profit from an honest operation, and I need some good insight on this.

That would be the charges for bannerless. Well I guess it actually still is bannerless, unless you count the banners on the popunder page.

No money to be made.

Be worried about bandwidth charges.

Why waste your money and take a chance when you can start your own free host for free and at no risk??

Have a look at sexplanets.com

We provide the servers (loadbalanced webservers backed by powerful NetApps), the software, the bandwidth and more..

Use your own domain, your own design..

We don't steal traffic, we've been around for years, we work with many of the big tgp's..

We're just so damn cool! :thumbsup

Interesting advice from the last two replies.... , both from freehost companies. If no money is to be made, elaborate why - dont just tell me some bs like that without a reason... especially if you own a friggin freehost site. And for the reply above, no thanks, I would rather have an established network, not a 3rd party startup type thing.

Re read my post for some ideas.

There are some reputable freehosts that exist selling off surpluss bandwidth from other ventures or what have you.

Most of the ones I have seen in the past 6 months have been using the freehost model to just pump up some cheap traffic.

Hehe I had to edit my post so thats gone, but.... I thought smutserver dont use pop ups? Anyway, Im going to assume that the adverts a freehost puts on the pages convert enough to keep the business a success - or at least enough advertiser interest.
