Anyone own a motel/hotel? it sucks running it friday and saturday nights

My family owns a 40 unit motel and i run the joint. Tonight so far i have had a guy trying to pour windshield washer fluid in someones gas tank and 3 other rooms with loud drunks. The one drunk couple were fighting and slamming doors at 130am I was outside when they did it and i went off on them. In a loud voice i said yo you cant be slamming doors or your gonna have to get out and the one dude laughed at me. I said do we have a problem? do we understand? then he quickly said no problem

Its a privately owned motel not a chain so i can be alittle more agressive. We are going to be building a holiday inn in the next 2-3 years i cant wait better customers.:warning

The hospitality and service industries can always be tough because your dealing with unpredictable people, that's why I do this now!!!

I can sympathize.

Trust me - Motels are not alone :1orglaugh

Any business with a large staff and/or who need to deal with the public face to face is like trying to act sane with 500 copies of GFY in real life *lol*

The "class" of your clientelle or how much they pay hardly helps much either - the general public are just too dumb and stupid. Last Friday one idiot guest elected to drive his car thru the security barriers and play games with the security staff - another elected to become a drug dealer for the weekend, another thought it was time to beat up his girlfriend and smash up his villa. They are a total waste of time - the only accomodation they qualify for is a jail cell.

When I was in college I worked at a Motel Six.

Late one night two cops showed up and mentioned they were looking for some black dudes in a white caddie. I forgot all about it two weeks later when they checked in. Sure enough, without any warning to me at the front desk, they broke down their door and raided the place.

We got cops here all the time breaking our room doors down. Around a month ago we had the whole parking lot full of cop cars they bashed the door in the dude was sleeping and came out in just boxers:1orglaugh

Our motel is on rt 309 a major highway in northeast pennsylvania we get all kinds. We had a guy hang himself in a room a few months back too i dont go in that room at all:helpme

This stuff happens in every motel. Sometimes when i go to check to make sure the lights are out when people check out im hesitant to walk in because i dont know what ill find.

Oh and heres a tip dont use motel towels and wear flip flops in the shower. Thank god we have cleaning people that collect those jizz rags:helpme:1orglaugh

That was very "unsubtle" of em breaking down doors *lol* We get a nice lady supported by backup who likes to pick the locks and do a quiet entry :1orglaugh

The cops here won't allow us to unlock the door because of safety if the person inside has a gun.

Sure... understand and the same here if it's a "face on" conventional raid :thumbsup

This girl was just amusing in her antics - tho depended on circumstances. She could check out the villa while it's know to be empty and do some "intelligence" and searching before any confrontation. Even on the confrontation, it could be a quiet lock-picking job and walking straight in before anyone had a clue there was someone at the door etc.

Last "major" incident was a Canadian guy where it was eventually established he was defrauding in Canada and money-moving/laundering. He was also into dealing and that's what caught him out. We had an eye on him from day one either way - something was just not right - eg... was sitting at the pool bar and he and friends were at the next table. He sides over and starts chatting and noticed his bracelet and commented on it - replies "You like it? You have it - I've got plenty more at home" This crap was worth between .. $12 - 15K so lights started flashing *s* He needed friends and to influence people :-)

wow... we don't really have anything like motels over here in UK... but I didn't think they were actually as bad as what the movies made out! lol

...and he's describing some of the classier places :1orglaugh
