ANY nightmare stories with Namecheap??

Yesterday, after my friends domain was hijacked away from his Godaddy account, I started looking for a new domain registrar.

I'll NOT use Moniker since Traffic Club (a company owned by Moniker) support these scammers. They are always parking these scammers and refuse to shut down their account, and even refuse reply any attempt of contact.

Ive read horror stories about DirectNic and eNom, so they are out too.

I haven't been able to find any horror history about Namecheap. So I'm considering using them.

Anyone ever had any serious problems with Namecheap?

Ice 07-13-2007 01:13 PM

I've used namecheap for years... never had a problem

Catalyst 07-13-2007 01:16 PM

I have a couple of 100 domains there and love it..

normally there is a discount coupon on gfy for cheaper domain registration

KimJI 07-13-2007 01:27 PM

Never had a problem, and I use them on about 80% of my domains. Makes it a lot easier to sell them as well.

MattO 07-13-2007 01:29 PM

I enjoy using NameCheap.

Rumbo 07-13-2007 01:44 PM

well Namecheap is an enom reseller

I have over a hundred there and i do actually recommend namecheap.

darnit 07-13-2007 02:08 PM

Ive got about 100 over there - the only problem was when i first seeded my account with cash they initially flagged it as fraud, it was however easily resolved and no problems since.

I recommend them

Namecheap is awesome for domains registars! :pimp

tranza 07-13-2007 02:46 PM

So far so good.

I'll be bumping this thread a few times during next week.

Lonely immortal 07-13-2007 02:51 PM

I use namecheap. They were recommended to me by a couple of people I know. Never had a problem with them either.

HouseHead 07-13-2007 02:51 PM

nope none yet :X

tical 07-13-2007 02:55 PM

no problems for me either

GreyWolf 07-13-2007 02:56 PM

No issues with Namecheap.

Had plenty crap with other registrars over years and as a cautionary comment - every registrar is OK till the day they start screwing up. But, so far - Namecheap is problem free.

scottybuzz 07-13-2007 02:59 PM

No problems for, plus they use virtual epass which rocks.

Plus getting a domain registered is pretty quick, not your usual, go through tonnes of ticking boxes etc

chris01282 07-13-2007 03:03 PM

namecheap = good as gold

Jman 07-13-2007 03:11 PM

I have over 100 domains with namecheap and can't complain

Violetta 07-13-2007 03:26 PM

I have used them for some months now (after the regfly thing), and no problems at all.

Marshal 07-13-2007 04:11 PM

Hundreds of domains and no problems so far... :)

Dennis69 07-13-2007 04:39 PM

Been using them for years now and never had a single problem with them :thumbsup

maddox 07-13-2007 05:24 PM

I have a big nightmare story with them, my account with more than 200 domains was frozen, I got an email saying: your account is terminated for fraud. I will not even mention that there was no fraud on this account, I tried emailing them and calling but nobody answered and I lost all domains (quite valuable ones)

btw: I moved all domains from regfly to them, a few months before regfly crashed :)

latinasscash 07-13-2007 07:20 PM

Hey, what's the deal with your friend getting his domain
highjacked from GoDaddy? I have quite a few domains
with them and have heard rumors about names getting
jacked but, wasn't sure if it was really true.

madawgz 07-13-2007 07:24 PM

namecheap rocks, been using them for years :thumbsup

I randomly found them and tried them for a few potential throwaway domains and have been fairly happy, although there interface can be a bit cumbersome.

Plus, at least for now, they are offering free WHOIS privacy.

Also, check out Dynadot - I've had great luck with them

He really had his domain hijacked and Godaddy is saying there's nothing they can do: http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showthread.php?t=750768

bobby666 07-16-2007 07:47 AM

i have 40 domains at namecheap - no problems there

Sarah_Jayne 07-16-2007 07:47 AM

I have about 60 domains there and so far there hasn't been a problem. If you have over 50 domains be sure to email them and get your own personal permanent coupon code that is good for renewals and new purchases. It is like a dollar off each time but that adds up.

gornyhuy 07-16-2007 08:27 AM

THis thread is a relief! I jumped to namecheap after the registerfly meltdown and have had no problems, but I was just waiting for it...

tranza 07-18-2007 07:49 AM

Another bump for me... I've already transfered 3 domains to them now.

HAPPYPEEKERS 07-18-2007 08:34 AM

For some reason or another I never recieved a renewal letter when my domain was about to expire.. costs me around $200 to get it back :-(

pornguy 07-18-2007 08:35 AM

we use them, and have never had an issue.

When you say "we" do you mean EpicCash, or just you?

TommySoprano 07-19-2007 02:53 PM

i have 50+ domains at namecheap. no problems so far.
free whois guard with every domain you buy (except .us TLD)
registrar lock, easy transfer, easy setup, plain functional design
can pay with cc, epass, paypal, google checkout

Matt 26z 07-19-2007 02:59 PM

Namecheap is a middleman reseller for Enom. Namecheap is not a registrar. I don't know how much control Namecheap really has over your domains, but I wouldn't deal with a middleman in something as important as domains.

Normally they just say your account has been frozen for suspected fraud, then you have to have them call you at the phone number you have listed on your whois in order to reinstate your account. I think they do this will all people sooner or later. There might even be some sort of red flag that automatically triggers this. With me, the first time I used them I had purchased about 5 adult domain names all at once, which is what I think did it.

I had problems with it because I was never home to answer the call, but eventually I got it sorted out by emailing them some documents. I guess you might run into troubles if you never gave them a real phone number or something like that.

I am gradually switching all my domains over to namecheap. Other than the initial fraud verification thing they made me go through, they have been perfect.
