How many Affiliate programs are gonna close up shop by the end of the year?

DVD Companies are folding like flies, the internet is saturated beyond belief. How many programs are about to go under?

Jace 07-13-2007 06:33 AM

probably just a few more than 2006

it will be pretty unnoticeable though, same as usual....the solid ones will stay and adapt and the smaller ones will quietly fade away

commonsense 07-13-2007 06:37 AM

More than last year.

Wizzo 07-13-2007 06:44 AM

I know a couple that aren't... Jace hit on the head- adapt or go home...:pimp

So far we already closed more than 100 adult affiliate programs in StatsRemote this year and more and more programs close shop every month.

Well, there are still more opening than closing.

Stats for StatsRemote this year so far:
220 New Programs
499 Fixed Programs
165 Closed Programs
(mainstream and gambling programs included)

And we don't count CCBill, Epoch or Vertotel affiliate programs. If we did the numbers would be much much higher.

I would venture to guess you all are the end source for this type of info

Yeah, unfortunately more than half of the new companies opening this year will be closed by next year.

I don't think people realize how much money, time and work goes into opening a new program.

In 2006 we closed 63 adult affiliate programs in StatsRemote. Again: CCBill, Epoch and Verotel programs are not included, otherwise we would talk about many hundreds.

The following happened several times already: Somebody asks us to add a program and by the time we want to release a StatsRemote update one or two weeks later, the program is already gone. Seems like they had a solid business plan :error

Well, from my experience our members' main interest is that the programs they use work and most of them don't really care about such stats :)

But you seem to like them a lot. I already saw them in at least two threads on different boards :winkwink:

However there is a new program every week so they will just be replaced :thumbsup

I didn't attend, but I read from the xbiz site what xxxjay said about programs opening that have ZERO traffic of their own. A lot of these program are people that should have learned the game from the ground up before jumping into owning a program. Should have their own traffic and not just NEEDING the traffic of others to survive.

That's what I don't get these days. It used to be that you'd open a program because you were tired of giving up all your traffic to someone else. Now it's the "cool" thing to do and everyone is putting one together. I'm also amazed at how many of these programs don't actively try and add traffic of their own and spend their time spamming boards.

LOL, I seached for my name and actually found something non-drama. How crazy is that?

Viper2K1 07-23-2007 02:05 AM

People used to start a paysite with affiliate program if they could send at least 10-15 sales a day to it with their own traffic.

Lately people think running a paysite is an easy way to make money ... they figure if they can't make sales, they'll just depend on other people to send traffic and make money from that.
Just to find out nobody really likes their paysite(s) enough to promote them, then they figure what's needed for webmasters to give them a try is to give high payouts just like the big programs.
A few months later they finally figure out that their paysite doesn't have what it takes to convert traffic, or to maintain a healthy recurring rate to justify the high payouts.
There's no money for updates, plugins and other monthly expenses, so they have to quit.

The internet is satured..Probably theres to many offers and people are just tired and fed up, because 85% of the referral offers the same....so the people just dont search anymore....
