POST Tech Question (Trouble shooting)

I can't seem to find my answer online.

I just picked up a

http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16813131011

With

http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16820231122

Running Athlon x2 5600 chip
And Geforce PCI-E 8500GT

I can't get the PC to turn on? The motherboard does power up. But no POST
No Video
I tried Swaping the Ram and the Video card.

What else could this be?

techtony 07-12-2007 06:50 PM

do you have the internal speaker hooked up?

techtony 07-12-2007 06:51 PM

is there a beeping?

KMR Stitch 07-12-2007 06:52 PM

Nope no internal speaker is hooked up. No POST beeps either if I could hear beep codes that might be nice

I am wondering if it could be the processor.

techtony 07-12-2007 06:53 PM

usually need a speaker for post beeps. but you may have a bad mobo or cpu.

KMR Stitch 07-12-2007 06:56 PM

I am thinking it might be the pc. I swaped the motherboard and the CHIP came off with the heatsink fan. Without having to unclip it..scared me..

uno 07-12-2007 06:58 PM

That's the grease clinging on.

If you have a speaker on your mobo look through jumper settings and enable it. That should give you more help.

Is the RAM in the right slot?

techtony 07-12-2007 06:58 PM

weird...

KMR Stitch 07-12-2007 07:00 PM

I posted the Ram and motherboard.. I am trying to get 8 GIGs.. So I use every slot..

have you switched out cpu's, if not it being loose likethat it may have fried.

techtony 07-12-2007 07:05 PM

I dont have another 5600

techtony 07-12-2007 07:08 PM

if you've swapped everything except cpu, it's gotta be it. try running mobo cpu ram and vid outside of the case.

uno 07-12-2007 07:17 PM

^ agreed. Start with the basics and work your way up. Start with the smallest most obvious thing you can think of. IME when you skip that smaller thing because you *think* it may be a bigger issue it usually turns out to be that basic one you skipped. Achem's razor.

KMR Stitch 07-12-2007 07:23 PM

I might as well buy 1 more 5600 and another case.. I will have 2 full pcs

Sosa 07-12-2007 07:26 PM

try each ram stick one by one

techtony 07-12-2007 07:26 PM

you could, be aware small chance if you put a fried cpu in mobo, you can fry mobo also
