David Beckham will be the biggest let down in American history

His arrival in America will just reinforce Americans opinions of football.

Everyone will be expecting him to tackle players, take on a team on his own and then score unreal goals.

Reality is that he is just very precise with his crosses and this is where he will fuck up. LA Galaxy dont have any strikers of any calibre for him to pass to. He will cross the ball no-one will pick it up and it will just get wasted.

Within 2 months him and his pouting wife will be a laughing stock.

MetaMan 07-12-2007 02:12 PM

David Beckham told me to tell you to SHUT THE FUCK UP

The Duck 07-12-2007 02:14 PM

He will laugh all the way to the bank.

im sure he will be ok.

hes probably at least better then the majority of players he will play over here.

so he should be able to shine...all they need is a few more cheap imports that play the same style and hes setup for the highlight reel

Poppy 07-12-2007 02:23 PM

He will be fine, as will the Galaxy. They just signed Carlos Pavon, from Honduras and the guy can finish.

Gentle_Ben 07-12-2007 02:23 PM

exactly. although not in the prime of his career, he's still probably a million times better than any of the substandard US players, so he'll probably do pretty well

Sosa 07-12-2007 02:25 PM

who cares, he plays soccer, americans don't care about soccer

I'm sure he'll do as well as American's expect, and since they don't expect anything from a sport they don't watch, it won't be hard to meet.

And now that he is in America its called Soccer. Its not Football.
And yes we could care less about Soccer.

Kevin Cunningham 07-12-2007 02:31 PM

Don't follow soccer very closely but I think you're wrong.

Quoted for truth. Only things going to be let down is him and his ego, cuz not enough people give a shit, and some rich fucking producer, who will promise her movie roles, will steal his wife in about 1 year, mark my words.

FakeNick 07-12-2007 02:38 PM

you are wrong george bush already has that job title

I'd venture to guess that no matter how much of a disappointment Beckham may or may not be, at the end of the day, Benedict Arnold would still qualify as a bigger let-down in American History.

:2 cents:

scottybuzz 07-12-2007 02:40 PM

Just you wait, if he can make the enlgish crazy about him, then americans will be easy.

Americans love dum english men and thats a fact.

CosmicTang 07-12-2007 02:41 PM

Americans love celebrity even more, and they've both got it in spades.

It will be interesting to see if soccer could get accepted in the US. I really believe it would do well for the nation. It would give the kids a reason to go outside and play a less violent game. It will also give the Americans a chance to interact with the rest of your continent on a whole new level.

There are to many breaks in baseball and Football. Soccer is a lot more action

voa 07-12-2007 02:49 PM

He is the big star and good player.

Violetta 07-12-2007 02:52 PM

It doesnt matter if the striker is blind of fat. Beckham will hit him with perfect balls that are impossible to miss.

kane 07-12-2007 02:53 PM

The 9 people in america that care about soccer will love watching him. the rest of us will forget about him in a week.

Soccer has been popular before in America. The NY Cosmos were THE thing back in the late 70's and early 80's. The thing was that they had star power and celebrity.

Pele, Chinaglia, Beckenbauer, Birkenmeier, et. al.

If the MLS packs itself with International soccer stars, people will go watch.

And make no mistake, Beckham is a star. And her husband ain't bad either. America will eat these two up.

When I say "popular" I mean like it is here in Europe, or the rest of the world even - exept The US

Sarah_Jayne 07-12-2007 04:32 PM

Funny in the rest of the world he is the star and we just put up with his wife to be nice.

I worked for the MLS for the first few years it started.

*by work i mean name dropped and hung out on the field and in the private dining areas with the players while pretending to be useful.

Pleasurepays 07-12-2007 05:11 PM

funny that anyone else in the world thinks that Americans watch soccer. no one cares. Soccer will never compete with basketball, football, hockey and baseball and the other 5 billion extreme sports popping up everyday. Soccer in europe and most of the world is driven by nationalism... thats never going to be the case here.

Red Ezra 07-13-2007 02:17 AM

but he'll look good doing it - it's all image and hype at this point

Sexsitesurfer 07-13-2007 02:32 AM

Becks is a great team player, he runs all day, distributes well, crosses well, gets into space well andtackles well. He is not the fastest or most skilful though and cannot be expected to win games on his own.

I think he will help raise the players around him and improve team play and hopefully he'll be a success. He always gives 100% and LOVES football.

Good luck to him, I hope the critics aren't expecting a miracle!

he-fox 07-13-2007 02:40 AM

coming in US is for the Becks more about making it into Hollywood than playing soccer. He will fuck up as soccer player, but they will be all over the media, with reality shit and movies.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

KILL_FRENZY 07-13-2007 06:23 AM

David isn't the player that he was few years ago .
