Is it finally time to shutdown Miss USA and other pageants?
 

With all of these bullshit moral clauses imposed on these young women and yet parading them around in bathing suits and judging them on something as superficial as beauty...

Miss New Jersey's having a problem with an alleged blackmail attempt over some pictures that show her in an "unladylike manner" They aren't even nude nor even "sexy".

Then we've had the problems in the past of these gals just doing what college aged girls do and losing their crowns for it...

Maybe we should just get rid of these pageants anyways. Does anyone even watch them anymore?

They don't need to be shut down, they just need to move slightly with the times. Life has changed, the interaction between men and women (and women and women) in the western world has shifted greatly in the last 40 or 50 years, and they haven't kept up with the times.

As a result, they aren't all that popular, and the Miss America pageant has a hard time getting TV coverage, which is stunning considering it use to be a very highly rated program every year.

They should just to the whole thing in g-strings and pasties and get it over with.

I always like the questioning / talents part .

Even worse is what happened to that Miss Universe, the chick from Venezuela (I think) who got her crown taken away from her because she later got fat. Oh yeah, thats a great message to send to young girls. Like there arent enough anorexic freaks out there as it is.

I think they are boring. I would rather watch paint dry then listen to what these dumb broads have to say about world peace or the starving kids in Africa or whatever issue that's popular with fake rich folks.

I think they should end! It will stop these crazy parents from putting their little girls through hellish pageants when they are young; making these girls look and act like women. All this is leading them up to Miss America pageants and others. STOP THEM!

I dont think I have watched that show in 30 years or so. I didnt even know it still aired.

I guess we can thank those sick mothers who start their girls in this industry when they are still toddlers. Some girls grow up with the goal of being miss america..can you imagine what those girls are like... whoa nellie.

OMG, Miss NJ had a beer at legal age? Wow, she must have been the onyl one in NJ who was not drinking at the age of 12. :)

No, i don't think Miss USA will shutdown. It's maybe because it has been an icon for all wannabe models.. It has been a stepping stone to pursue their dreams and as far as i know, it has a foundation created for humanitarian cause.

Hmm, maybe it should just go a major revamping like Alex suggested...get a modernization...

but I like the g-string and pasties idea....
