I thought Bush was going to make us safer?

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Al Qaeda is the strongest it has been since the aftermath of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, a new U.S. government analysis concludes, according to a senior government official who has seen it.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/07/11/al....ort/index.html

Perhaps if we hadn't wasted the last 4 years in Iraq and used those soliders in Afghanistan hunting Al Queda this wouldn't be an issue.

I also don't get all the talking heads thinking a terrorist attack on US soil would BOOST Bush's ratings? Wouldn't another attack disprove Bush's theory that he'd make us safer than Kerry? How does FAILING at your job IMPROVE your ratings?

Well, money is all that is important to the president over there
So... what do you think he cares if his people get killed?

Then silly americans want to "avenge" the deaths of their dead mates, against any country that appeals them (without knowing the real responsibles, of course)... and Bush happens to want war for money, while the people for weird reasons... and so, they vote him.

But who knows, if ever Bush gets too whiny and in the way, he might be killed by "superior authorities" too, as others were before him.

Not to be rude but who gives a fuck anymore? really? Media is all infotainment. everything is commercialized and pop culture now - even poltics - more and more.

if there is going to be an attack, let's hope they blow up the culprits in the White House.

I feel you will be paid a visit by homeland security soon.

I hate to tell everyone who believed this, but...

there is no Santa Claus, Easter bunny or Tooth Fairy, either.

"Heck of a job, Brownie." comes to mind.

Fight them over there so we dont have to fight them here, except that now they are ready to attack us again over here. Oopsie doodle. What went wrong?

Personally I expected this gut feeling a lot closer to the presidential election. Along with abortion, gay marriage, flag burning and other critical issues to the american voter. Maybe even the crown jewel: a new bin laden video on election eve.

blah. Dont know what to think anymore about this crap.

jonesonyou 07-12-2007 07:24 AM

And everytime I turn on the news I hear of an attack this summer, Which is to be the Terrorists most common time to attack. Are we being prepared for another attack soon?

Ron2k1 07-12-2007 07:28 AM

I think the whole "Al Qaeda" organization is just a hoax.

Terrorists are just some individuals with no organization structure

J. Falcon 07-12-2007 07:31 AM

Must be awful to live in fear. Thank God I dont know what its like. And people still brag about how great a country US is...

You got a point there...

But for this administration to justify the " War of Terror " , you need to identify an ennemy ... So they link everything and everyone of dissent to Al-Qaeda.

Yeah, right, keep thinking that.

I don't live in fear because I know Bush is full of shit. I feel just as safe if the whole patriot act was scrapped because that's BS too. Sorry but Bush monitoring my posts on GFY is not going to make the US safer. The US will be safer when Bush leaves office.

StuartD 07-12-2007 07:36 AM

I don't believe they were ever "less strong" or that they are "just as strong" now... all of this macho strength measurements are meaningless.

The real reason behind the report is to keep fear levels up. To keep reminding you, like a splinter in your toe, that there is always something to be afraid of and something that you'll always need to give up your freedoms for.

Be afraid people. The big bad boogey man is out there and as strong as ever!

You must be out of your mind. AL Quaeda and Bin Laden have more money than you can even imagine. Money buys the means, weapons and organization to do whatever they fucking want.

Fighting terrorism is like fighting a ghost. You cant win. You're fucked.

Why not try to figure out what the "root" of this terrorism is? Why are terrorist born? Why do they hate you? Is it because you invade their countries maybe? Hmmm? Look for the root of the problem, instead of trying to hunt down the problem and blow it up.

No it doesn't. I'm safer if I wear my seat belt. Doesn't mean I drive in a constant state of fear.

Brad 07-12-2007 07:47 AM

I saw that report on Anderson Cooper last night.

They admitted that they had no proof that there was going to be a terrorist attack. They said instead that the patterns fit...more messages coming in and the fact that it is summer both lead these guys to assume that an attack is imminent. I say they are just saying that so that the war on terror can be revitalized. They want people to think that an attack will come soon so that they can continue to spend money on home land security (read gathering information on people they don't like without warrants) and the war.

stev0 07-12-2007 08:08 AM

The world becomes a less safe place when you provoke people... I think it's pretty safe to say Bush's foreign policy doesn't work.

If America hadnt invaded Iraq then the amount of people wanting to carry out terrorist activities and fund terrorists would be massivily lower.

Bush has basically increased the amount of hatred against the US by its enemies and those who were once Americas friends.
