TGPs generating 75,000+ clicks per day forced to pay $950/month to AT&T!

Sound scary?
This very headline might soon become a reality if we loose Net Neutrality.

Sound like a "sky is falling" scenario?
Recent decisions by both the US Supreme Court and the FCC bring us very close to something like this becoming a reality. The US Senate has so far refused to pass legislation protecting Net Neutrality.

Not in the US and think it doesn't effect you?
Think again. Virtually all internet traffic gets routed through the US, and if Net Neutrality dies, you'll be facing the same exact issues that those actually living in the US face.

Are you a lazy piece of shit that always lets others deal with problems?
Sorry, but it's not going to work this time. The telecom companies are lobbying hard, and only the loud voice of millions of people speaking collectively can overcome them.

Find out how you can make a difference.
Your business might depend on it:

The topic has come back up in both the house and the senate since the Democrats took control of congress. There may be an opportunity to finally see some legislation to protect Net Neutrality.

But only if our voices are heard!

Btw paying that $950 would be just to AT$T .. Then you would have to pay off Verizon, Time Warner, Comcast.. ect ect..

By allowing this money grab to happen, it could very well put the average webmaster out of business due to excessive fees. Basically this is a money grab by the big telcom/cable companies whom want to control the internet and use it for their own products.

bump for this, god damn i was hoping it was over... :(

I always thought paying $1.99 a minute to Bell to access the internet would be sweet. Or maybe they could put me on a monthly plan I can lock into for 3 years to pay $50/month. Plus a monthly $8.99 system access fee and $2.99 internet tube tax, $5.99 monthly tech support upgrade giving me 3 free calls a month (maximum 8 per year), 99 cent federal tube insurance etc.

And the options would be fair priced, like I could get a package that allows me to surf outside of my city for only $5.99 month. If I want to search statewide I could get the state package for $7.99 and if I wanted to be able to surf websites all across North America I could upgrade to the continental package for only $10.99! I could be viewing my cousins website all the way in New York and send unlimited email to my girlfriend in Dallas with this upgrade option!

Maximum 1500 minutes/month or a $3.99/minute overage fee applies.

1000 free image downloads per month!

View economy class websites for only 10c each!

If that shit happens like companies like AOL did to us dial up guys back in the day I'll go fight club and start blowing up office buildings.

this actually happened in Norway... Telenor pulled out of the nix cooperation in June with heavy critisisme from all parties... they have demanded huge sums from the largest sites up here so its not good news at all..

Telenor has large ownerships in a lot of other countries aswell and I would suspect they could pull some more stunts :/

(Telenor (OSE: TEL, NASDAQ: TELN) is the incumbent telecommunications company in Norway, with headquarters located at Fornebu, close to Oslo. Today, Telenor is mostly an international wireless carrier with operations in Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and Asia. In addition, it has extensive broadband and TV distribution operations)

Uhm, you're totally missing the point. Telecom companies can do what I mention in the title of this thread already by law thanks to recent Supreme Court and FCC rulings.

They could do it tomorrow.

What we want, is to get a law passed, to STOP them from being able to do it.

Get educated. Knowledge is powers. :2 cents:

If that happens they will get bypassed. Too much money to be made. It wont happen. You hear people crying when their internet or their site is down for like 5 minutes? There would be fucking lynchings.

see post #34 .. overall the reactions up here to Telenor were pretty bad  .. however, they own the infrastructure up here so its pay to play.. so far they've demanded cash from the largest media house (owner of the largest newspapers, auctions etc).. I guess thats the real test

MissEve 07-11-2007 03:22 PM

Ugggg, I'm so embarrassed Stevens is from my home state. His son is also a total douche. They are both being investigated by the FBI for accepting bribes from Veco (oil company).
