Can somebody tell me if this is worth it?
 

Ok heres the deal,
I am considering buying a particular movie posts top gallery spot for $500 for 30 days. The site gets 50-50k uniques per day and the owner of the site said I should get 8-10k per day to my galleries. Do you think I should buy it? I mean when you take into consideration the number of click-thru's to the paysite itself, maybe 1-3k?, conversion rate: expecting like 1 in 5,000 at worst hopefully more like 1 in 1000, plus hosting fees etc. You also have to take into consideration recurring etc. Is this worth a shot? Please help me out ! Thanks!

if you can check the site counter stats, are the hits 2 or more times greater than the unques?

50-55k uniques is what I meant actually. Yesterday for example, 52,786 uniques and 79,231 impressions. So no, thats hits are not 2 times greater than the uniques Shemp. and no i can't get a a 2 day trial, the site owner says that he is already giving me a "deal" and that he will sell me the spot for a month only. I think im going to buy it, i'm not really sure yet, need some more input

Sounds like a hassle. Fuck that, no trial = no sale. Period. You don't know what you'll be getting.

I have seen the stats for myself, so i know hes not lyign about the traffic numbers. I does seem shady, but it could turn out to be a good deal you know. Ahhh, dont know what to do!

i doubt if the top gallery will get 8-10k even if the way of listing is similar to thehun,elephantlist etc. At least my personal experience in the past showed less numbers.

I can get you a guaranteed listing on a big tgp for $20 bucks for the month. 1 gallery a day for 30 days. They get more traffic, but I can tell you this... your galleries won't see 10k a day, actually a lot less. But you'll make your $20 bucks back and probably a lot of profit besides.

I have come to find that being listed first is not the best go for spot number two.

Cdsmith's deal is more realistic and a good start to see what's going on. Also i would suggest to drop an email to webmaster @ onlymovies.com telling him that you are interested in top spots. His site is HUGE and he is more reasonable.

yes, i may do some smaller "tests" to see how my galleries convert. If anybody has a good traffic movie post or knows someone that runs one, let me know. Thanks for the only movies tip.

I'd say $500 bones is a small investment compared to some in this business. If you are capable of spending the % on it, Its safe to say you can afford to gain nothing from it, if it proves not worth the initial bones.

Yes, I believe you buy a top spot for $500 or a 2-5 link for $400. your link stays on the page for 3 days I believe, each day droping lower and lower. I cant imagine making your money back on this! Maybe i'll try!

The last time i had a gallery on the HUN i got 14 signups at $29.95 recurring, the first day and 3 the second day. This was not a paid spot, but it was in the middle of his links. So depending on how many sign up again next month, it may very well pay off to pay for a top spot.
