Look at this SOB
Just found this sucker in my backyard in the garden...and I'm in Dayton, OH, USA! In case you can't tell from the photo, from the top leg to the bottom leg of the spider is about 4".

Jeezus I?ve seen farm animals that weren?t that big
|

Gezz thats a big ass spider. I hope its :ak47:dead now.
|
If anybody is bored and decent with Photoshop, I'd appreciate it if you could do a little imaging to this - the POS pool and backdrop kinda of take away from the effect a bit! I'm clueless as far as graphics go, so whatever you think! Nothing huge, I'm talking a 5 minute thing.

cmon where is the :321GFY finger in that photo?

ya and they always manage to find their way in my house
nvr been bit by one before, knock on wood, but they just make the hairs on my body stand straight up and get ready for battle |
pesticide
lots and lots of pesticide keeps the creeepy crawly critter outdoors where they belong. |
im tempted into buying on of those anti-bug contraptions u plug into your wall outlet and they sound off some high pitch noise we cant hear but keeps the insects at bay. anyone ever used one of those?

We get lots of those around here. It's a black and yellow argiope, I've also heard it called a "Writer Spider" because of the way it spins it's web. They aren't really dangerous, but I still wouldn't mess with it... could leave a nice welp. :winkwink:
|
I hate fucking spiders and bees.... If they were the size of dogs they would rule the world and I would never leave the house !!!
 btw plat icq my ass, I can't find you in my list ?? I must of renamed ya.... |
I wonder who would win, the pede or the spider.
I wouldn't fuck with either one of them. |
i'll take the crime, poverty, noise and polution of my native NYC over knowing that there are NO spiders like that around. But we do have rats the size of cats in some areas..

I found out the other day that a paint sprayer is pretty damn effective on bees too. I stood on the roof of my back porch and scraped paint all morning, and no bees. I started in with the sprayer and all the mofos came out to do battle. Only two got me ... the rest are either dead or flying around wearing a nice coat of "Redwood" colored paint.

nice ass

You shouldnt' kill spiders. Just like Praying Mantis', spiders kill a lot of pesky insects. Let that spider be -- even though he/she/it is a big motherfucker.
|
I'm in Dayton, too, and tonight there was the mother of all daddy-long-legs on my outdoor trashcan. I didn't stay around to measure, but it was at least 6-inches end-to-end. I was about 3 inches from it when I saw it. I'm a girl, so I screamed and ran. Like a girl.

JFC
WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Don't you EVER do this again.; I am clicking on that link and my sandwich just dropped.. omg,, I hate those things :ak47: |
Yeah agreed spiders shouldn't be killed, especially if they're outside! We don't like it when they come INSIDE and kill people, so don't go into their home looking for a fight either.. They eat west nile mosquitos damnit!

I wasn't afraid it would BITE me, I was afraid it would TOUCH me! :)
|
The hubby is highly allergic to spider bite - venomous or even non-venomous cause huge nasty sores to form. He would have had the 12 gauge out after a spider that size. lmao
Keep those things down there with y'all... don't let them travel the short distance up here to our house!! I hate cleaning up after his tirades with blunt objects when he's after a spider. :winkwink: Odd thing... when we first moved here, a 3' snake dropped out of the basement ceiling on him and he calmly got ahold of it, snapped its neck and tried to hand it to ME! But a spider, while he's not afraid of 'em, he kills on sight. Neat pic Ace Ace! |
Thank Christ that we don't have spiders that big up here in the great white north... I would quite literally shit my skivvies if one of those crawled up the wall in my house. Outside I would probably blast the hose at hit and drown the sucker.
That thing could kill my dog. |
I think thats a common Orb Weaver, a very beneficial spider. But from the looks of the web she might be jonesing for some rock so I would lock up all my valuables if I was you.
|
Haven't killed it off - it's still out back in the garden. I haven't seen anything close to that size around here, ever. Even though I freak out when a moth runs into my head, I'll leave this guy outside (alive) - doesn't seem to be doing too much harm there!
|
These are dirty spiders. Bah!!!!!!
|
i see those spides around here often (i'm a few hours from dayton ohio)..
heres a spider i had a few years back for 2 years... http://fourwinds.net/pet/pspider2.html it was fun feeding it different shit... one time i woke up and checked the tank and i saw another spider, which looked exactly like it, im like WTF!!!! i reached in to grab it and it was the spider's old skin. i scared a shit loada people w/ it! :P |

Whoever was talking about Daddy Longlegs is right too, they don't bite humans. They DO eat the hell out of other spiders though. |
