yup, with a nightvision lens on both doors, ran about $3500 for the setup & install/labor...got it done over a year ago, prices might have dropped, but i have it setup wired, wireless is too prone to jamming by professionals

I've got a D-Link wireless camera that I can monitor over the internet. It also takes snapshots when it detects movement, etc.

Only trouble is it sucks balls in the dark, which is when I'll probably get robbed.

There are better ones that are higher resolution and work well in low light. They are probably going to run closer to $1K. Mine was somewhere around $500.

I bought all my software/cams/DVR from here:
argusurveillance.com

Inexpensive way to get fairly professional results. Takes some work to set it all up, but definitely worth it. I can remotely monitor 8 wireless IP cams on my laptop.

wireless is idiotic, the frequency can be jammed by professionals from a block away with cheap tools you can buy at radio shack

at least with a wired system, you get to see them cutting your video feed line, assuming you keep the recording system under a serious locking mechanism

i could jam your wireless ip cams with $200 & a trip to radio shack....seek professional help if someone tells you otherwise

We have hidden cameras inside and out. We record everything to a hard drive.

Of course, this assumes that they know the cameras are even there. Properly concealed... that's very unlikely IMO. I think only professional thieves would invest the time/money to disarm wireless cameras that they can't see. And if they're pros... no camera will stop them anyway. :2 cents:

properly concealed wireless camera's still broadcast & are picked up by the pro's

a buddy of mines workshop got ransacked by some professionals, lets just say after seeing their skill set....i invested quite a bit of $ into securing my office from potential data loss

The only thing wireless on mine are the door/window censors. I think thats because there's so many though, I have both sound and open. Everything else is wired. I wouldn't really trust wireless everything.

But I got motion with video and infrared installed at a decent price. The command unit thing has voice and voice recognition too
