Free Blog Hosts Question.

Which free blog hosts would you all recommend that (1.) allow you to use your own domain, and (2.) allow you to upload your own WP theme? Everyone recommends thumblogger, yet you can't do either of these... I don't think anyway.

Now you can use your domain on thumblogger, but buddy if you want to use your own domain why are you bothering with a free host, bandwidth is cheap.

Free hosting is only good for feeder blogs.

I didn't realize that. But I would still want to upload my own WP theme. I want free host, because when I start creating more sites I don't want them all on the same IP. I'd pay more for a host that puts it on multiple class c's, but I don't have that kind of money.

So when you create more sites on your free host how are they going to be different IP's?

You can use free hosts to create feeder blogs, but for your main sites host them on paid hosting only. If you are worried about hosting all sites on the same ip, get small hosting packages from mutiple hosts, you can get basic hosting plans for $10 a month.

They won't. But at least it's one new IP address.

So why are all these people signing up to thumblogger then if it is only good for the blog's feed? You can't get listed in SE with a blog hosted on a free host? I'm already on a virtual host. I suppose I could just do that, and find another host pay $20 instead of $10. Some people have different opinions about how many domains you can get away with on the same IP address. I've heard someone say if you are smart, you can host 20 domains on the same IP and do just as good in the SE's as you would on multiple IP's.

there are blogs hosted on thumblogger that are No1 on Google for really good keyphrases, and I bet your ass that these guys are beating themselves in the head for not getting their own domains (at least you are doing that and can host it somewhere else if shit happens)

I have many sites on about 10 different IPs, I see no problem with the SEs whatsoever, of course the sites are in different niches, honestly I wouldn't waste my time with free hosted blogs, get .info domains if you have to, get really cheap hosts ($10 per month), some hosts will give you extra IP for $1 or $2 per month, if you want to squeeze an extra ip from yuor host use their secondary DNS as your first (in most cases that'll be on different ip)
