epassporte card usage charges?
Hey can someone please help me out here,
I just used my brand new epassporte card for a transaction here in Australia, It was 41 Australian dollars yet it charged me 43 USD for the pleasure.. The Aussie dollar is worth about 86 cents to the US dollar in exchange, so for 41 dollars it should have been roughly more like 33 USD or so. So they charge like 10USD (approx) per transaction? Is it a fuckup or are their charges just that steep? |

Got this from their FAQ section. Hope it answers your question :)
I paid for a meal at a restaurant with my Visa Card. The authorization on my Account for my meal purchase is different than the amount I spent. Why is this? When you purchase a meal at a restaurant with your ePassporte Visa Card, your transaction is authorized for the amount of the meal plus an extra amount (to allow for a potential gratuity). These authorizations are removed from your Account when the Merchant settles the actual amount spent at the restaurant, usually in 7 to 10 days. |
thanks i just saw that too, its stupid really we don't usually even tip in this country so i don't get it but apparently it solves the mystery! :)

it is obvious that this type of card has higher fees if you use it to pay anywhere... |
