Beautiful Vintage Ferrari

Went to a local car and coffee event this morning and found out a guy that lives just a mile from me had this beauty hiding in his garage.
An original 250 spyder with right hand drive.

The second shot was on the ride back. Our two cars together sounded amazing. The Ferrari is nearly 50 years old and he stayed right with me in my Lamborghini through the corners.

That's sick nice find

Sands 07-08-2007 04:30 PM

Beautiful ride. :thumbsup

BV 07-08-2007 04:34 PM

Cool ride but that would be freaky driving on the right side. (i think) personally I never have done it.

No doubt it would take some getting used to. Even the idea of shifting with the left hand seems strange. The owner of the car handled it very well.
We tore it up on some country roads and as I mentioned. He stayed right with me on the tight corners.

damn, that's a nice car. if i had an old car like that which is well worth a million $ i would really stay away from racing with an actual lambo - lol

He drove it like he stole it!

Red Barchetta
(Rush)

My uncle has a country place, that no one knows about
He says it used to be a farm, before the motor law
And on sundays I elude the eyes and hop the turbine freight
To far outside the wire, where my white-haired uncle waits.

Jump to the ground
As the turbo slows to cross the borderline
Run like the wind,
As excitement shivers up and down my spine
Down in his barn
My uncle preserved for me, an old machine ---
For fifty-odd years
To keep it as new has been his dearest dream

I strip away the old debris, that hides a shining car
A brilliant red barchetta, from a better, vanished time
I fire up the willing engine, responding with a roar
Tires spitting gravel, I commit my weekly crime...

Wind in my hair ---
Shifting and drifting ---
Mechanical music ---
Adrenalin surge ---

Well-weathered leather
Hot metal and oil
The scented country air
Sunlight on chrome
The blur of the landscape
Every nerve aware

Suddenly, ahead of me, across the mountainside
A gleaming alloy air-car shoots towards me, two lanes wide
I spin around with shrieking tires, to run the deadly race
Go screaming through the valley as another joins the chase

Drive like the wind
Straining the limits of machine and man
Laughing out loud
With fear and hope, Ive got a desperate plan

At the one-lane bridge
I leave the giants stranded
At the riverside
Race back to the farm
To dream with my uncle
At the fireside...

I didn't even think about that part. :helpme
Please tell me that you can still clutch with your left foot and gas with your right?

ultimatebbwdotcom 07-08-2007 05:56 PM

Clutch and gas are still the same - I drove on the right for 15 years and was quite thankful that once here in the US at least the peddles were in the right place even if the steering wheel wasn't.

LilBro 07-08-2007 06:10 PM

isnt that from FERRIS BUELLER Day off? ....dayum that ride is nice

What a beautiful car!

As for the right hand drive.. it can't be all that hard. There are more imported right hand drive cars on the road here in Vancouver every day, from Skylines to those Mitsubishi vans.

shermo 07-08-2007 09:25 PM

Beautiful...That's about all I can say! Thanks for the pics!

Shoehorn! 07-08-2007 10:03 PM

I see one similar to that all the time in downtown Honolulu, I always stop and stare at it as it goes by. Fucking nice. :thumbsup

That's simply amazing, love those old designs.

Dino 246 is my fav. Ferrari model: http://www.heritageclassics.com/ferr...ed246gts/P.jpg

Otherwise Mercedes Benz SL 230 and Porsche 911, Corvette 62, Mustang Fastback 68 and many more, cars used to have character those days.

Although the new mustang and new Charger ain't that bad lookin, they look vicious, powerful and a bit retro too.

One more pic from yesterday. That black lambo parked down a ways from me is a new Gallardo Nera. The red car parked next to me is a ferrari 355 and the black one which is featured is a 250 set up for racing. It sounded incredible when he took off in it.

You are going to want to bring somewhere near 7 figures to drive that one home.
