I Just Noticed While Surfing On My Blackberry That Geo-Targeting Does Not Work?
I very rarely surf on my phone but I had some time to kill today. Are there any companys out there that can properly geo-target cell phone surfers?
Sorry this might come across as a simpleton question but I thought I would ask anyways :) DH |
The geo-targetting is based on the IP address, so it really depends on the IP address you get when you surf.

if you are using opera mini (or something similar), you are basically using proxy... :)

If you figure it out... I'll probably buy that traffic too :)

My iphone gets my location right but then I have not been out of town since I got it so it may not when I am traveling.

you can use hlr to get the country at most...I cant think of anything else for getting more specific

I'm pretty sure I've read that GPRS uses a proprietary format with an IP-internet gateway somewhere along the line. It's possible you're not even assigned a unique IP, you're just coming through a big proxy located at your telco.
Visit www.whatismyip.com next time you're on the phone and see what it returns :) |
check out ours and let me know :-)
