what can I do with this domain?
 

Hey, I registered a domain a while back (welcometovictoria.com) it is listed on yahoo, ranks #1 when keywords such as "home rental, victoria vacation homes, victoria vacations" etc etc.

I am from Victoria BC, tourism is huge here. But I dont have a house to rent out, so what the fuck can I do with this domain. Should I sell it? How much would a domain like this be worth? Im currently redirecting it to some other guys site (for free even)

any ideas?

Simple. Find some places around Victoria.. Vacation homes. If it's listed no.1 as you say it is, it probably gets a few hits now and then yeah? Find out how many, and charge a reasonable amount/month for each business to be listed.

A friend of mine did that for a town in north queensland. Charged some tiny amount, like 50 bucks/month to get your business listed.

Auction it... direct sales are not that easy to do, let someone else who buys/sells domains buy it.

Build one-page business card "sites" for the mom-n-pop stores that don't have a website. Charge them a monthly fee.
Sell advertising to the ones who do.
Sell advertising to local real estate agents, rental properties, radio stations, tv stations, the chamber of commerce - anyone and fucking everyone.

Look at other 'city' sites and see how they're making money.
Do it better.

listed in yahoo, getting 1000 hits a day that were going to some stupid travel site affiliate program, one day I got a vision and made the ste that is there now. It's not the best design around but when porn surfers are rare, it helps me finish my month....

find a hot model and rename her victioria, then do a full paysite of her, index page should be a full spread with a "man in tha boat" show hints 'Welcome to Victoria'

start contacting local businesses/hotels and shit and make a "best of victoria" type site, places to stay, places to eat, things to do etc etc etc. Collect the Ad Dollars as they roll in =)

you could do a places to live, list real estate properties/apartments and things like that too.
