Sprint breaks up with high-maintenance customers
Posted by Marguerite Reardon
The squeaky wheel doesn't always get the grease.

At least not if the squeaky wheel is a Sprint Nextel customer. On June 29, 2007, Sprint sent letters notifying some customers that their service would be canceled by the end of July due to excessive calls to customer service.

"Our records indicate that over the past year, we have received frequent calls from you regarding your billing or other general account information," the letter reads. "While we have worked to resolve your issues and questions to the best of our ability, the number of inquiries you have made to us during this time has led us to determine that we are unable to meet your current wireless needs."

Sweet, I just figured out how to get out of a contract if I need to.

Daily customer service calls.

HouseHead 07-05-2007 04:29 PM

I get 30% off my sprint bill a month!

Jace 07-05-2007 04:32 PM

Haha. They're going to see one hell of a surge in call volume from previously quiet customers I bet.

Sprint has no business casting aspersions whatsoever toward the customers dumb enough to sign up for their services. I just cancelled four lines with a termination fee of over 1k because Sprint is totally fucked up, can't get their shit together, and doesn't seem to care a whole lot.

Word is they're losing customers very, very rapidly to the other providers.

i have been with them 5 years now, 3 lines of service and tons of options, never had ONE issue with them

they even fired a guy from a local store here for trying to tack on extra services I didn't ask for

Depends a lot on your location. I move around a lot and their coverage is shit as soon as you get away from a metropolitan center. I just read an article that says they're hemorraghing customers like mad and the biggest complaint is their lack of customer service. Fuck Sprint grrrr

Yep, I made a sprint payment over the phone and they took the money out my account then said I didn't pay. Finally they agreed that I paid but said I had to wait 10 days before they send the payment back to my bank and then I could make the payment again. But I went to make a call and they had turned the phone off for the ten days and I was traveling outside the country now without a phone.

When I got back home, I told them I wanted to cancel service and they basically refuse to cancel it by giving me the run-around on the phone to differrent departments until I started cursing and yelling. It took me about 2 hours to cancel the service.

I don't see how. I don't, and neither does anyone else I know. The concensus is that Sprint bites harder than any other carrier by far.

guess we are just lucky

do you consider roaming to be no service?

cause we have that plan where there is no roaming, so even when we roam it doesn't cost extra

we have 3 lines, 2000 minutes, data, unlimited nights and weekend and unlimited sprint to sprint for like $59 a month or some shit....we can't find any other carrier that can beat that

Jace 07-05-2007 08:22 PM

and oh yeah, we never have to call in to talk to anyone...with their online control panel everything is right there and automated for the most part

Roaming, unlimited minutes, unlimited long distance, pix and video and I also got a PPC, aka Pocket Piece of Crap, their top of the line model. I'm glad you're not having problems with them but as far as I can tell you're pretty much a unique case.
