Impeach Bush & Cheney ?

Is it going to happen?

Are you for it ? I am.

Olberfag is an idiot. :2 cents:

TheLegacy 07-05-2007 08:06 AM

no one is going to get impeached - and I will be pretty surprised if the republicans don't win or loose by a slim margin next election.

Way to late for that. Not enough time left, but they can still be tried for crimes against this country and won't be able to use executive privilege once they are out of office. Karma is a fucking bitch and they will get theirs in the end for what they have done to this country.

Clinton was impeached.
didn't mean shit.
didn't do shit.
cost the country a lot of money.
a few writers wrote books about it a made big money.
whats your point?
impeachment does not remove a president from office.

My point is charge him with the crimes that he's committed..

that's why I'd like to see him impeached :)

StuartD 07-05-2007 11:52 AM

Only in the US can you have a guy give speech after speech about "freedom this" and "freedom that" while systematically removing those freedoms at the same time... and STILL have people think he's a great president.

budz 07-05-2007 11:53 AM

Impeachment is the process by which a legislative body formally levels charges against a high official of government. Impeachment does not necessarily mean removal from office; it comprises only a formal statement of charges, akin to an indictment in criminal law, and thus is only the first step towards possible removal. Once an individual is impeached, he or she must then face the possibility of conviction via legislative vote, which then entails the removal of the individual from office.

Can you wear an anti-Bush shirt to one of his appearances without fear of being removed, or even arrested? Can you check out any book you want in any library without fear of being flagged? Can you talk on any phone and be 100% certain that there's no one listening in? Can you bring your lighter, nail clippers and bottle of water onto any plane?

These are some of the smaller ones. Things have changed.

Barefootsies 07-05-2007 12:04 PM

That would be festive.

impeachment does not remove a president from office.

So that it's understood...

Clinton wasn't removed from office because he was acquitted of the charges by the Senate.

"Impeachment" is just the formal addressing of charges... kinda like an "Indictment" for us normal folk. There still has to be a trial - which, as outlined by the Constitution, the Senate conducts after the Impeachment is issued by the House.

If found guilty by the Senate, the President would then be removed from office. To date, no president has been removed from office by Senatorial trial.

Yup, brought one of those green flame lighters on a plane not too long ago and I always have nail clippers with me.
Care to address the other points?

You are merely making assumptions about the others, so no.

BTW, I brought a Bic lighter on a plane not too long ago, and I have had friends report the same thing.

As I have never attempted to carry nail clippers on board, I can't say with any certainty.

I'm really curious why you like him. I'm not being sarcastic either, just curious. When I look at his record, outside of being a Senator, he's primarily been a lobbyist for big business. So have many of his family members.

He's pro-life, anti-gay, anti-science, anti-judicial branch. He's really gravitated toward the evangelicals and a prominent one has even came out and said that his wife would be a champion for cracking down on pornography.

I like him on fiscal issues though, which is about it. I'm just curious why you'd risk your business over supporting someone the blogs conservative blogs think is cool? I put my family before some blogs.

Ive wanted him to run since 2000 or so. He isnt Anti gay, he is just not pro gay marriage. He is a straight shooter. Which one do you think would go after porn more, Al Gores wife, or Fred Thompsons? Most of the fluff about conservatives going after porn is just that fluff. He is anti tax, and for smaller government. Evangelicals support him, that doesnt mean he is going to do whatever they like. Im pro life so Im in support of that. He isnt anti science, he is pro "facts" not bs paid for by grants, to perpetuate more grants. The judicial branch isnt supposed to make laws. That is what he is against there. Straight shooter. Strong backbone, strong on defense, strong on low taxes. :thumbsup

He'll win it I have no doubt.

Protest in public, challenge your detention, not be charged with a crime that isn't even a law yet, take a picture of a flag draped coffin in Iraq, show support or non-support for a candidate if you're a business or non-profit organization, have your phone records and calls private, have your library records private, have your e-mails private, be told about a search, be searched without a warrant, distribute certain types of consensual pornography, etc.

Just because it doesn't effect you, doesn't mean you haven't lost rights.

Al Gore isn't running from what I've seen (especially since his kid just got busted). When he was VP, obscenity prosecutions were at a low point. Republicans have had a history of going after obscenity cases much more strongly then Democrats. That is fact, not fluff.

For a guy who is so "small government", he wants the government to ban our ability to buy prescription drugs from other countries, ban how much we can donate to a candidate, ban our ability to speak out against a candidate, pumping more money into medicare, banning our ability to sue insurance companies, not allow us to opt out of social security, wants to add internet taxes, fund abstinence education from the government, limiting what self-employed people can deduct for health care, voted against reducing the marriage penalty, and increase spending on drug control.

As for science, he still doesn't believe what the majority of scientists believe on warming, he is against types of stem cell research, and against a separation of church and state in school.

I can understand the view of not having the judicial branch make laws(although if they didn't, blacks would be slaves and drinking out of different water fountains, women wouldn't be voting, different races couldn't marry, our country would end at the Mississippi, you could be convicted of getting a blowjob in your bedroom, wouldn't be able to buy contraceptives if married, have to learn the Bible in science class, no one would have a right to a lawyer, police would have limitless ways of interogation, death penalty would be mandatory, and so on). When I meant he was anti-justice system, I was also referring to the fact he doesn't support the decisions made by them in enforcing the laws. He also doesn't believe we should be allowed to file lawsuits against big companies.

Protest in public - Bush and the Secret Service created "free speech zones" for when he speaks. They allow him to move protesters miles away from where he is. There are pending lawsuits on this.

Challenge Detention - Just look up the Military Commissions Act of 2006.

Charged with a crime that wasn't a law at the time - Also see Military Commissions Act of 2006.

Flag Draped Coffins - Bush Administration has put a policy on the DOD not to release or allow any photos of the flag draped coffins. They have fought attempts to have them released under Freedom of Information Act.

Show Support/Non-Support for Candidate - McCain/Feingold Act

Phone/Library/Email/Search/Etc - See Patriot Act

Pornography - See huge increase in obscenity indictments.

I am basing my opinion on what the majority of scientists believe. I don't know what causes it, just saying I'd probably support what the scientists believe.
