MELVINDALE, Michigan (AP) -- A powerful firework exploded in the face of a woman trying to set it off, killing her as her fiance and 8-year-old son watched, police said.

Danialle Barse, 27, was unfamiliar with the commercial-grade aerial firework she was using Monday night, said Mike Welch, a police detective in this Detroit suburb.

this is a terrible tragedy and i feel sorry for her family but I hate when family members blame the perfectly legal (yet dangerous) fireworks that since not legal in Michigan was I am sure purchased in Ohio where it is legal and not the fact the stupid ass bent over to look into a box of 3 inch mortars after it was lit

Man.. what was she doing, standing right over the damn thing with her face as close as possible? At least she only squirted out two kids..
