Pinnacle uses a lot of proprietary hardware. Sony Vegas and Premier are good for entry level. Pinnacle is consumer grade, if you are going to spend $1 then go with Sony Vegas or stick with Premier. :2 cents:

I edit HDV with latest version of Premiere Pro 2.0 plus the Aspect HD v.5 plugin which provides a nice workflow and many real time effects.

Premiere Pro CS 3 is shipping very soon, my free copy supposed to arrive in the mail any time now on release day this month since I took advantage of the buy v. 2.0 and get a free CS 3 upgrade a while ago.

dont think 1.5 supports it natively. Premeire 2.0 does, but not the trial. Has to be full version for hdv support.

Technically you need the patch avail. on the Adobe site to make Premiere Pro 1.5.1 to edit HDV in that version.

Did they get rid of that conforming audio nonsense in CS3? I think it will be a good upgrade anyway even if the core app Premiere isn't that different. I believe that the upgrade includes Encore CS3 DVD authoring app which I use. The On Location app looks interesting as well.
