Why do affiliates ask for a Social Security Nbr??

I'm getting started setting up my sites, and the affiliates all ask for a TaxID/SSN.

Is it really safe to give my name & address & SSN to these people?

they need the SSN or tax id for their own tax payments (i bleieve they treat payments to you as payments to contractors, and if you werent identifiable they could just make some more of you up, couldn't they?) I dont like doing it either, its easy to get a tax id..

Thanks, I think I've got it figured out. It's probably worth it to avoid sending out my own SSN.

It's such a pain in the ass dealing with the government. Why can't the scumbags just leave us alone?

go on the IRS website and download the form or apply for one. can't remember how to do it exactly on there

Because if they left you alone you probably wouldn't pay your taxes.

tax id's are easy to get, most states have a webiste that you can do it all online.. ie florida has sunbiz dot org. you can pay all your taxes right there online too. I believe it's ~$130 to register. It's a good idea to have, it can protect you if many ways. you dont get sued... your company does, which as far as the law is concerned you and your business are different entities. plus you can get shit at wholesale :)

if you are creating an LLC... just make sure you put 'LLC' in the name of your buisness, or it wont go through.. ie 'The Best Buisness Ever LLC' is the full name.

Right. The best way to get a tax ID is to form a company. Wherever you live go the state's treasury or department of revenue Web site and download forms for starting an LLC (a Limited Liability Company). It'll cost about 50 bucks and save you a lot of grief.

An LLC will protect you in more ways than one!
