Celeb Sites

Just wondering if anyone has any legal expertise in the celeb field.

I dont run them anymore, but I was wondering how some sites like Mr. Skin, and others get away with it. They are using and profiting from using copyrighted celeb pics. Is it that they pay off organizations so they dont get bothered or is there some sort of loophole?

:question

celeb sites usualy run on the term "if they contact us and say so and so is copyrighted picture, take it down" they comply

Yeah, but you can still get busted if you live in the US... If they are completely offshore, and some arent, IE TrueCelebs (TCGold)

....

Right, I ran that way until APIC shut me down.

I believe mrskin and a couple others operate under the fair use laws. They show a limited amount of the material and include news or editorial comment with it. In the same way movie review shows can use clips without paying, etc...

But i could be wrong

I think that's correct. I know another Celeb movie site that provides long commentaries about the movie, the scene in question (the nude/sex scenes), and even a link to purchase the full movie along with a database of the actress/actor.

Gary
You are the only one that got it correct.

Oh, by the way...We now have Free Trials for Mr Skin.

Your correct. If you noticed, a lot of celeb sites had to change their tours to reflect that the material contained inside are reviews, similiar to how someone critiques a movie on news channels without licensing it, they just show a clip and give their comments. Similiar notion applies for celeb sites.

Right again guys.
Before they even started building MrSkin, they hired a very good copywrite law firm to figure out a legal way to do it.

MrSkin has not only survived the test of time but also the test of Alyssa Milano's mother.

Anyway...There are a lot of rules they abide by to run the site. The short clips and reviews are only a couple of them.

My favorite celeb sites are the ones that have pics of models who were under 18 at the time of photo, and they have banners to porn sites on top.

Nice huh?

Its amazing what some get away with.

The girl in the pic lets say Mandy Moore, was 16 in the pic, but shes 18 now, that makes it cool to link porn right?

:warning

Hey Guys,

Gary, Eru, JimBarnett and Wiredguy, you guys have it and Fair Use rocks, at least for the time being;-)

It also supports that you are doing celeb right and you are reporting news when you are on 500 radio stations around the world on a regular basis.

We have been reported on in USA Today and by the news agencies and they use our site for research, so we know we are doing it right.

More and more celeb sites are starting to do it right and the others who don't come around, won't be around to much longer.

The thing to remember is that we sell information and the pics and clips are used to support our info, ratings and spin on the scenes.

We love the celebs and we try to treat them right.

Later all and keep making sure that porn kicks aaaaaass!!!
