How many popups is too many?

When creating a paysite tour, how many popups is too many?

In other words what's the maximum amount you would have pop?

Plat 09-01-2002 11:41 AM

Just 1 is too many :2 cents:

twistyneck 09-01-2002 11:42 AM

1 that offers a trial if they decide not to sign up for a full membership is plenty. If they close that window, they should be immediately redirected back to the webmaster.

Juge 09-01-2002 11:43 AM

1 is too many, I personally think. :2 cents:

matty 09-01-2002 11:54 AM

popups suck ass

XXXPaysiteDesign 09-01-2002 11:57 AM

Okay, this leads me to the question:

Do popups on a site cause you not to promote it?

heymatty 09-01-2002 12:02 PM

Popups make money

Todays fashion seem to be blur 1 immediately then 2 or 3 in an exit chain.

gothweb 09-01-2002 12:12 PM

I don't like popups, but exits are okay if you only have one, and it doesn't spawn any more.

XXXPaysiteDesign 09-01-2002 12:15 PM

I'm planning on 1 blur enter console that spawns 3 more chained exits..

kosmic 09-01-2002 12:15 PM

No pop ups/ popups suck :eatmouse

Lane 09-01-2002 12:18 PM

enter consoles suck

1 clean exit is ok

ChrisH 09-01-2002 12:19 PM

Pop up consoles make me money. Until they don't I will use them everywhere that I can! If you don't use them you are leaving money on the table!

Rictor 09-01-2002 02:35 PM

One.

TAFlorian 09-01-2002 02:39 PM

I'd use exit only, 2 unchained or just 1....without popups maybe nice, but why let people leave your site without another chance to make money ?

MrPopup 09-01-2002 02:41 PM

Popups fuck up everything.

1 popup on exit is okay I think
I use one myself
3 day trial on exit

Martin 09-01-2002 02:51 PM

Anything more then 2 is just pissing people off..

If you have to use one, don't pop it until they try to exit the site. Don't piss them off when they still might pay for a membership.

wrong! they should be sent back to the site that sent the hit to the webmaster....afterall isn't it THEIR hit?

XXXPaysiteDesign 09-01-2002 03:17 PM

hmmm.. what if the hit comes from a gallery, a bit pointless to send the surfer back to the gallery isnt it?

Ron2k1 09-01-2002 03:21 PM

One clean exit-popup is ok

SykkBoy 09-01-2002 03:24 PM

the most effecive we've found is one exit with a blur and another exit off the blur with a small console exiting off that....

actually, one of our best days was when I fucked up the exit code and it just kept cycling between the same 3 consoles (no way of exiting beside shutting off javascript, rebooting or clicking a link)

hmmm, maybe we should go back to that ;)

I prefer an exit to a pop-up.. How does that "HOT LIVE SEX" tiny little swirl do? I get that all the time

Once a surfer leaves your site or my site, they are no longer our surfer.

Blur a small popup like the one ARS uses on load, then hit them with a large one on exit.

I was kidding with the guy who wants his surfer back after sending it to a paysite ;)))
