one of the best bands ever, but not every album has been a gem.

liscense to ill- great one
pauls boutique- their best. if you missed it, you missed them.
check your head- cock shit
ill communication- fantastic
hello nasty- eh?
five boroughs- good one
their new shit, the mixup- from what little ive heard, may indeed be their best one yet. The whole thing is instrumental and it's all just funk grooves and shit. simply amazing.

Kerry King from Slayer. They were both produced by Rick Rubin and on Def Jam Records at the time.

Now here's a little story - I've got to tell
About three bad brothers - you know so well
It started way back in history
With Adrock, M.C.A., and me - Mike D.
Been had a little horsy named Paul Revere
Just me and my horsy and a quart of beer
Riding across the land - kicking up sand
Sheriff's posse on my tail cause I'm in demand
One lonely Beastie I be
All by myself - with nobody
The sun is beating down on my baseball hat
The air is gettin' hot - the beer is getting flat
Lookin' for a girl - I ran into a guy
His name is M.C.A., I said, "Howdy" - he said, "Hi"

I did her like this, I did her like that, I did it with a whiffle ball bat! :thumbsup

MandyBlake 07-05-2007 11:02 AM

they kick ass. i love their stuff.

Brad 07-05-2007 11:57 AM

Crazy that these guys have lasted as long as they have. I had the opportunity to see them and definitely recommend it because they put on a great show.

On a side note, I noticed some people talking about the new album. I have listened to it once and would recommend "The In Sound From Way Out". It is the same kind of instrumental Bronx funk you will find on the new album but more lively and better songs in my opinion.

dlzn 07-05-2007 12:27 PM

I remember buying the casset tape that had the song girls on it, when i was in the 6th grade.. DAMN

Indeed. Check Your Head was their best album.

NinjaSteve 07-05-2007 12:34 PM

I'm surprised they're all still alive. Daaaamn.

Brother Bilo 07-05-2007 12:35 PM

I used to love the Beastie Boys, and i still dig them, but it's getting to point where I got with Rage Against the Machine. I like to listen to music, but I don't like to get preached to, and that's a lot of what they do now. I think it's cool that they have strong opinions about stuff, but don't push it off on me, even if I agree with it. If I want opinions on current events, I'll watch the news. I listen to music to relax and have a good time.

strobi 07-05-2007 12:36 PM

Saw them last week at Werchter... they still rock!! Damn, 21 years?
