does anyone have a PC with WATERCOOLING?

if you do, whats your experiences?

eru 08-31-2002 10:23 PM

Watercooling is a hassle :P

I use fan cooling -- got 13 fans going and it is still super quiet.

Vagisil 08-31-2002 10:23 PM

sounds like a liability

water cooling is usually used for overclocking

Im more interested in a stable system than the fastest 'puter on the planet. My computer at work is a 1.4Ghz athlon it's fast enough for 99% of my needs(It needs help when editing videos)
BUT it runs 24/7 the only time it get rebooted is when I either add or remove hardware or when installing software
it never never never hardlocks(now monday it's gonna be fucked totally up now that I have bragged on it)

this is what I want - a computer that I can work with and not have to worry about when it's going to lock up,reboot randomly or fuck up some other way.

It sounds very handy; even better if they include a back-up beer cooler. Now that would be sweet!

Ahem. But seriously. Water cooling? What is it? I am so behind on technology it's not even funny. Generally I tend to think water + computer = bad. Anyone care to enlighten me?

My PC never locks up...

I got a xp 2000 (had to downgrade from 2200 long story). Video rendering is fast -- but if you want to play a game while rendering -- forget it! :(

I wish there was a way to only allow the program(s) to use a certain percentage of the CPU rather than all they can.

I'm gonna need watercooling if I see any more of those galleries with the blind thumbs on them.

Actually there is a way - depending on what OS you run. You can download proggies to do this for any OS...but if you're running XP, you can set a limit to the % by doing "level of priority". To do this:

1) Right click the taskbar. Go to taskmanager.
2) Tab to PROCESSES
3) Right Click on the application hogging your CPU (the vid editing software)
4) Set priority to low (or whatever you want)

Basically that makes it so whatever you're doing takes precidence over that application. For example, I set SETI@HOME to LOW so that I can run it 24/7. =D

Hope that helped.

just recently some europeans took the newest pentium4 -- 2.6Ghz -- and submersed (sp) it in liquid nitrogen. The result? 4Ghz Pentium4.

Wonder how long it would last before something broke.

Old thread alert!

Penny24Seven 11-05-2007 08:22 AM

I have seen a system with it and it looked cool but as far as how it worked I have no idea, He acted like it did awesome but he had all this shit built and water running up his walls in neon lights and stuff. Looked like something you would see in a movie or something. I will snal a pic next time I am there
