iPhone
So what's the verdict (I don't mean the pre-release reviews by magazines and television critics either)? What do you folks (real people) that got one think - pros and cons? I'm curious...

Its to big. You need a purse to carry it around, and that would look pretty gay on me. So I will stick with the regular size mobile phones.

iPhones are a lovely looking toy with WOW factor user interface but if you travel a lot and rely on your phone for business it?s not the right choice. My N95 with wireless keyboard knocks the crap out of any iphone. Its streets ahead with features, allows me to swap sims, swap batteries, swap memory cards and has a really good camera.
Just like with the ipod, those who look further than the end of their noses will discover the far superior alternatives. When people with ipods hear the sound quality from my Meizu mini player they are astounded. I can?t wait to meet an iphone owner and hit them with my N95 capabilities. ipods and iphones = fashion victim accessories. |

What is size compared to a blackberry pearl?

I like mine. Fits just fine in my pocket. Easy to use. Has the Mac quality interface. No problems texting or getting used to it. Camera could use a flash but the pic quality is excellent. Could use an instant messenger and 3G compatible would be nice and that should be in v2. Very smooth transition from the krazr which I hated.
The Apple Store in Reno is sold out of them as of today. |

I second that.. Interface is great.. getting used to it if you are coming from a mac is a breathe. I think with all the traveling i do, it should actually come in handy.. sure 3G would have been better. I feel they will open up the platforms for new apps and widgets soon, and that will be another burst of sales.. because it seems pretty straight forward just like pc widgets. I can't wait till that happens. Most importantly interested in IM application. |
I played around with my buddies iPhone yesterday (i didnt get one since i use sprint). Its a great step in the next generation of phones but has some issues still that wont get me to switch.
Lack of MMS (no picture mailing unless you email to an email address) EDGE sucks - way to slow for any sort of cool things (video streaming, fast web page lookup etc) Lack of software (im sure this will change, games, other things) but I do have to say the presentation/gui and features that is has works really nice and the screen is freaking amazing it almost looks fake. the iPod function s work pretty well , granted your only dealing with 4 or 8 gigs but still works (its not replacing your 80 gig ipod video) Another thing I just thought about that sort of sucks is unlike the ipod you cant use it as an external hard drive. Many times I have put big video files or data on my iPod to take it into my office to transfer it off (ie think usb stick) thats a no go. I spent the weekend with the iPhone and working out video streaming since im doing alot of that tech for a personal project. While on wifi streaming works great, but don't even think about getting anything that doesnt look/sound like crap to stream via EDGE. The cool thing and I think they count alot on this is that it finds wifi hotspots and if you have the key every time u go by that spot it moves into wifi mode for browsing and other net related activites. be carefull you have to have a personal atnt/cingular account since you cant activate it if yo have a business account with them. if you want to be the cool kid on the block, get one, if you can wait, i would recommend waiting a generation so they can add in 3g, gps and more software features. |
