They must have been higher than they looked - which looked to be lower than the top of the building - but it was really something to see. And hear. |

Actually, the jets would fly pretty low...right thru the city! Lower than the skyscrapers at least. Are ya still in Chicago, Terebabes? How about you, Puremeds? Where you at in the ciity? I'm in West Town (Division/Milwaukee area)...what we like to call East Wicker Park! Makes it sound like a better neighborhood than it really is. |
No, I'm not there any more. I was just in town as a consultant for a while. I was out in Oak Brook for a year plus and downtown for maybe 9 months.
I used to live in an apartment (during the week) right on Michigan Ave. 320 N, I think it was. 19th Floor. HAd a nice view of the Wrigley Building, the Sun building, the water, etc... I have to tell you, Chicago is probably my favorite city... I used to rollerblade all around the parks, along the waterfront, etc. I have to say Chicago definitely has the best skyline too (when viewed from the water or out by the museum/aquarium). Great city! |
BTW, a coworker of mine swore to me once that a jet flew BETWEEN the BCBS building and the Amoco (or whatever it is called now) building during "practice" one day, a year before I was there.
I assumed he was full of shit and it MUST have been higher than the buildings - or at least the BCBS one - but maybe not. How cool would it have been to see an F14 tearing by your office window??? |
In case anyone cares, the buildings I'm talking about are the tallest one in this photo and the one to it's right, on the edge of the picture:
http://www.skyscrapers.com/english/f...im6/index.html This view is from the other side of the park. You no doubt recognize the "Married With Children" fountain. |

Also, I used to live downtown less than 3 minutes from the airport and on airshow weekends I could NOT sleep past about 10 AM when the jets and helicopters would start roaring around overhead. SpaceAce |

Yeah...Chicago rocks! If ya never been here before...you're definitely missin' out! Chi town has become the undiscovered city. Not many people know about how it is here these days. For some reason it's still known as the "City That Works" or the "Hog Butcher Of The World'...but that went out w/ good ol' Al Capone. |
