AFF/Lars: Congrats on the 10k to the FSC - When Will You Stop Funding Thieves?

Lars, I quit counting how many threads you have started recently patting yourself and AFF on the back for making a measly $10,000 contribution to the Free Speech Coalition.

FYI, in relation to your company's total worth - per dollar earned, I and many others contribute a greater percentage of our total income to the FSC than AFF or you do...we just don't feel the need to boast about our contributions in order to boost our reputations, since we already have a good rep.

However, I did note that you neglected to mention in those self-congratulatory threads how much money you put into the pockets of sites that blatantly steal content from numerous companies in the adult industry, nor mention how much you and AFF make from such sites sending you traffic. I'm pretty sure it is safe to assume more than $10,000.

So this is how you buy your stairway to heaven? By enabling/helping the rip-off of, and then insulting the adult industry, while making shallow attempts to buy respectabilty and credibility within that same industry?

You've personally been sued and had to pay large monetary amounts in the past to defend/settle your questionable business practices, and had to change some of your business practices, but like an unrepentant shyster you continue to find new ways to engage in what many would consider shams and scams, while all the while trying to portray yourself as a good corporate citizen.

There are many ways in which you could make serious amends, yet you brush me off when I make such suggestions. I seriously believe you can make good honest money, without relying on ripping off the adult internet community to make money, yet so far you refuse to listen, apparently believing instead that supporting and profiting from content thieves is better business than helping to stop content theft.

I am pretty certain that if people were copying and giving away/selling the services which you/AFF sell, that you would take great umbrage at that, and do what was in your power to stop it - yet when it comes to others in the adult industry, you seem to have little or no problem helping content thieves by underwriting their unethical/illegal enterprises with your advertising/affiliate dollars.

You have been mostly unrepentant and arrogant since all of this has come to light. You may not believe in karma, or anything but the almighty dollar, but if you do, please remember that payback is a bitch...

Once again, if you have 15 minutes in Vegas, or would like to have lunch in Palo Alto, Santa Cruz or the City, I would like to have the opportunity to sit down and chat with you about ways in which your company could truly earn the respect of the adult industry, instead of being disdained and ridiculed for ripping it off.

In the end, it might be worth far more than $10k to you/AFF...

My calculation is that the $10,000 donation for AFF is like your average working man donating about $5 to the cause. I am suspecting that the airfare and hotel costs for Lars to attend Internext in Florida will total up more than that - and I am not considering the bar tab for all the booze he is going to buy to remain a "top notch guy".

Basically, AFF is bleeding the adult business dry, using toolbars, torrent sites, and other copyright violators and scammers to profit from stolen adult content and adult traffic. The recent string of announcements of small (for their company) donations to charity is an attempt to cover up the reality and move the discussion from how hard they are fucking the business over and onto how much of a "stand up top notch guy" Lars is.

I don't have anything against Lars personally, but the adult industry would be smart to start to understand exactly what AFF is doing and how it hurts everyone bottom line even if you specifically don't deal with AFF - and even if you don't produce your own content.

$20,000 in donations for a company making (large numbers of) millions of dollars is a drop in the bucket, PR moves and not much more.

It's sad how this works really, i've been banned from two other boards the past week for questioning people who posted there about zango use, or the support of torrents. It's crazy how quiet people would rather all of these things are.

None of my sites is carrying any AFF banners or anything that can be linked back to them. It's not going to break their bank when i don't send them any traffic, but if more than one person takes a clear stand against AFF by not choosing to promote them.... well,..do the math....

interesting to say the least
